  1. That's what I was taught What speeds do you use on yours?
  2. I'm trying to get clarity on gear and flap extension speeds. My POH (hopefully attached properly below) has an "Approach For Landing" in Normal Procedures: Landing Gear - Extend below 140 KIAS Wing Flaps - T/O Position Wing Flaps - Full Down below 110 KIAS Which I read this that approach flaps can be used < 140 KIAS and full flaps < 110 KIAS (VFE). This is exactly what I was taught in transition: speed brakes, gear down, T/O flaps, FULL flaps < 110 KIAS. But it's odd to me that the POH defines VFE for FULL flaps, and implies that T/O are < 140 KIAS. Mainly because when I was renting Cessna and Cirrus the POH listed VFE speeds for all of the flap settings. The guy I bought the plane from made it a point that I am now the one paying to fix things, so even though VLO is 140 KIAS he made it a point to always be *much* slower than that. Hence my question - what speeds do use for approach to landing, gear, flaps, etc...? Thanks!
  3. I just noticed you have the Garmin PFD, Garmin G5 standby, and the AV-20! Panel mounted compass is a great idea - going to add that to my wish list.
  4. Reading more and more threads about people replacing their switches Is this a parts failure and replacement availability issue, preference, usability, something else? If you went this route, what switches (and why) did you go with?
  5. The wall I crashed into is the integration between the instruments, navigator, and autopilot. If you are ever considering replacing your autopilot (especially if going with Garmin GFC 500) then you'll quickly want to have Garmin G5/275 plus the Garmin navigator. I've seen some incredibly clean panels with 3x 275 (with one dedicated for EIS). I can't tell you the cost differential but for me if feels like if you're going to go that far why not get the G3x? I've also seen examples with the G3x and JPI 930 for EIS. I like the JPI display, and I can see the allure of having a dedicated unit. For me personally I'll be replacing the entire panel and going all in on Garmin w/ the EIS integrated.
  6. Links for the registration weren't coming up for me on my phone. Here's the link if anyone is looking: https://www.mooneysafety.com/ppp-registration/
  7. How does one register for this?
  8. What is your post annual checklist? Are you taking panels off and inspecting yourself, getting under the plane, under the dash? Changes to your preflight, run-up? Any tips or tricks that you've picked up over time?
  9. I just realized that part of this decision might have already been made for me. I need to measure the panel space when I get the plane back from annual, but I'm not even sure that a GTN650 will fit (even removing the audio panel from the stack).
  10. Going to clean everything up and be ready to install an MFD down the road. I won't have the space to keep the audio in the panel.
  11. Next question (lol) - remote audio Assuming I go with the G3x should I get the GMA 245R (G3x control) or GMA 35c (GTN control)?
  12. I've learned that the rabbit hole is really deep.
  13. Great looking panel! I haven't found a good answer for this - why the G500TXi & 275 vs G3x Touch & G5?
  14. That's where I think I'm headed. The cost savings to drop down to a GNC 215 isn't that much considering what the whole package is going to run.
  15. Where did you mount the analog indicator?
  16. I don't know what to do about it, except he managed to make me extra paranoid about it
  17. The seller of my plane had an FBO damage the nose gear when towing. Made it a big point to make sure I never let anyone tow the plane.
  18. Where I'm at so far: G3x Touch PFD w/ EIS G5 Standby GTN 750xi GPS/NAV/COMM/MFD GFC 500 Autopilot What do I do about the secondary GPS(?)/NAV(?)/COMM GNC 215 NAV/COMM $5,295.00 List (really wish the remote mount was available for certified aircraft) GNC 355 GPS/COMM $7,895.00 List GTN 650Xi GPS/NAV/COMM/MFD $13,795.00 List I'm used to constantly tuning two VFRs along my XC (CFI was real old school, and CFII reinforced it) so I'm struggling to imagine not having that functionality. I get that VORs are being decommissioned, but we'll still have them. The G3x has an integrated (VFR) GPS. Do I need a second GPS Navigator or should I save the dough and put in a GNC 215? What is the GNC 355 get me over the 215 that's worth the extra $? Would it be better to have redundant NAV vs single NAV and three GPS? Am I going to regret not buying the GTN 650xi?
  19. I was originally thinking about doing the 7” portrait but now kinda wondering if I should skip it altogether
  20. Because to keep the Avidyne everything becomes Frankenstein The panel is an integrated package working together PFD, GPS Nav/Com, Autopilot When I start reading about hacks and secret settings that will get the IFD to work with x, y, or z is when I’m out
  21. Lol great people and his RV-10 is awesome!
  22. Beautiful panel thanks for sharing! Seeing this I do really like the dedicated EIS - will have to see what Garmin updates before I start cutting How do you like the GFC on top? Not to stir things up, I've seen these top of stack and bottom of stack and trying to get a sense of the difference.
  23. I must be looking in the wrong place to find this - how did you fit 2x 10" G3x???
  24. The 750 has a lot of real estate, looks like a nice interface for management. With the 540 I have now, it's feels like it would fill most of the MFD functionality Can you use the 500 PFD to select freq, baro, etc...? That's a really nice feature I've seen on the G3x.
