  1. That's a very interesting take, for sure...
  2. You would earn some brownie points if you did. Consider it, please.
  3. That brings up another question... The clean stall speed is 63 knots for 2900 lbs (LSA pilot cannot fly) and 59 knots or slower with weight 2740 lbs or less..
  4. The LSA is an aircraft category for airworthiness certification. All Moooneys were certified in the normal a/c category. However if a pilot holds a sport certification, s/he can fly (some? all?) Mooneys.
  5. I am not sure I explain it properly: the new MOSAIS rule for LSA will classify many a/c (if not most) as LSA. Many, if not all Moonies (A through V) are/will be LSA aircraft. Hence, a PPL can now fly aircraft with 200+ hp engine w/o high-perf endorsement.
  6. So... With Acclaim Ultra being an LSA a/c -- a PPL can fly it w/o high-perf endorsement?
  7. I have a better question... Does this MOSAIC rule (and consequentially Mooney -> LSA category) mean that for LSA a/c (e.g. Mooney) the high-perf endorsement (200+ hp engine) won't be needed anymore?
  8. I've had mine for about 18 months sitting outside. Bruce's covers for the whole plane, including the prop -- packing/unpacking takes about 15 min. Haven't seen any issues, and the covers do a good job keeping water aways from the plane.
  9. All original avionics/engine gauges.
  10. Lycoming IO-360-A3B6/M20J'97 Noticed last flight the pressure was comfortably above the red line. Reduced the RPM/manifold pressure and crawled at about 100 knots -- the pressure stayed within the green arc. At some point saw the oil pressure was jumping between normal and redline, then it settled in the green zone. Few hours after annual (and oil change). I added a part of oil soon after oil change -- the engine isn't consuming much oil but I thought the oil level was low. Oil temp was steady/normal, no other issues with engine instruments. Quick googling produced: 1. High oil pressure is normal, we want high oil pressure 2. Oil pressure valve regulator issues 3. Some blockage in the filter (metal?) 4. The oil pressure sensor faulty What does the hive wisdom say?
  11. What's the formula? Didn't buy my plane from Jimmy, but he spent more time on the calls with me than he should have. Many thanks.
  12. To double amps just put two of these in parallel.
  13. Rumor has it at $24,425
  14. Yeah, I'd like to know the price please.
  15. From the article: "Designed for enhanced performance and reduced weight, it is now available under a new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) covering the Mooney M20 A through G and M20J models."
  16. It is, indeed, thank you.
  17. I have one missing. Laser has a few -- which one is the right one for the second from engine air inlet (on the pilot side)? tia Or bite the bullet and get the kit from aircraft spruce? ($300+ and time)
  18. M20J. Getting closer to a panel upgrade: 2xGI-275, Garmin GPS/audio.transponder. Considering an AoA, hence a couple of questions: 1. Really like the idea of Eagle/Falcon "below the glareshileld" HUD: https://alphasystemsaoa.com/store/aoa-kits/eagle-flush-mount-hud-kit.html, has anyone installed these? What's the difference between Eagle and Falcon other than the display? 2. Would a GI-275 support AoA indication? There is a Garmin AoA sensor, but I am not clear what would use it -- it seems to come with its own indicator that seems to me inferior to the Alpha Systems Thoughts/opinions? Strong opinions? TIA...
  19. Wow. I submitted my "paperwork" June 11th. As of today, Jun 15th my information is not displayed on the FAA site. @shawnd -- thanks a lot!
  20. Plier would add 2-3 lbs: manual extension should work "just in case".
  21. May be a good reason to upgrade to 406... I think there's a model that's a direct replacement: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/elt406.php
  22. Absolutely real.
  23. Read your posts, just to confirm the high-level points: 1. The prop is lighter and in addition to the increase in UL the prop moves the CG backward a little, which is beneficial 2. Performance is marginally better and the prop is quieter 3. No issues with paint tia
