  1. I hope @George Braly is too. I'd love to see him do the same tests, and prove/disprove Mike's tests. I don't see how this ever made it out of the lab in the first place...
  2. I definitely understand your testing philosophy, and the sophistication required to accomplish the testing parameters required by engine manufacturers/faa. I don't think this is the issue though. I applaud your effort in creating a suitable alternative to 100LL. I don't fear for engine issues if I were to use G100UL. Unfortunately, there is a but.. I also understand the impossible task of testing your fuel on all the different aircraft types out there. As an aircraft owner though, I am responsible for the entire aircraft, not just the engine. I don't know about you, but I cannot afford to be repairing the paint on my aircraft every few years because the fuel I have to use was replaced with G100UL. I also don't see any warranties regarding any repairs to the paint or other items along the fuel system. All I am asking for is an acknowledgement that you are aware of and have seen the evidence that your fuel is ruining paint if it gets on it. It would be nice to also know that you are looking in to these reports, and seeing if there is anything that can be done to remedy this. We do not have much time left before we are forced out of 100LL.. 2030 will be here before we know it. I hope that us mooney owners, and other aircraft with wet tanks are not just seen as outside the "boundary condition". And that we just have to deal with the risks once 100LL is no longer available. -Chris
  3. Hi George, Thank you for posting here. I am sure like myself, others appreciate it. Unfortunately, I cannot in good conscience allow myself to use a fuel that has the potential to do harm to my aircraft. I understand there is "good fuel hygiene", but as I am sure you know, there are times where all the normal resources you may need to properly clean up a mess are not readily available. Even just fueling up the plane, I can see a little splash back coming back out of the fuel neck. This to me is a cause for concern. The occasional drop from simply sumping the tanks, Or, as I've seen on my own aircraft, a screw from one of the tank inspection plates needs to be resealed.. All of this having a potential to cost a LOT of time, and money repairing seems like a 'no deal' situation. Simply re-sealing our tanks should not be the go to solution to this either. Going to weep no more means a potential for more than a year wait. That's not acceptable either. I had high hopes when following along with your research and approval process for g100ul. It is very discouraging that we are now here, and have little choice but to allow our paint, or sealant suffer because there isn't a great alternative available to us for 100LL. If the evidence that has been brought forward within the community is blown out of proportion, then I get it. Let's not dwell on a non issue.. But, at the same time, I don't think this should be dismissed as, "it's just time to reseal those tanks". Like all good studies, the larger the pool of data, the better. 150 aircraft is, in my opinion, not a very good representation of GA as a whole. Like others have said, a 3% failure rate is completely unacceptable. Even in the industry I work in. A 3% failure rate in aircraft? I think should potentially be fleet grounding.. -Chris
  4. Outside of the occasional drip running off and on to the paint from my sump valves, I have no leaks. on my J. Does that mean I should feel confident that g100UL won't mess my paint, or sealant up? Unfortunately, I can't be.. Not with the evidence I've seen so far.
  5. Has anybody watched the podcast with gami, and savvy? I don't recall it mentioned at all regarding the multitude of reports about paint, etc with g100ul. Are they really just going to ignore this? Basically, if you have a slight fuel leak, or any gets on any paint at any time. Then we should just expect our paint to be ruined?
  6. That's clean! Was there any sort of approval you needed to do that? Or just ask your mechanic/avionics guy install that. Edit* sorry will stop hijacking the thread. I'll DM you @201Mooniac instead.
  7. What does that look like? Care to share a pic if able? We're able to remove the annunciator? I have the Garmin EIS, and it also gives me a warning about voltage as it's required. So technically I only need the annunciator for the gear I think? I'd have to discuss with my avionics guy to confirm.
  8. Ha. yes.. Voltage light too. You are correct. I do see the flashing volts light when I am pre-flighting and checking my lights. No vac anymore. no starter, or alt air either.
  9. I had a feeling that was the case. So literally the only thing my annunciator is for is the gear lights..
  10. Question. With Cies senders, do your low fuel lights still function? I can press the test button, and the lights illuminate, but have not tested whether they will come on with low fuel, yet..
  11. They are not easy to get on, and I felt like I was going to break them.. Eventually they snapped on, and work great. Those cutouts should be from the factory, right? How close are you talking here?
  12. Whoever did your install definitely didn't do the trim system good enough. There are 2 pins with cotter keys on each end of the trim shaft. You have to remove all of them, and slide the shaft out of the join so you can get the old gear out, and the poly bushing, new gear, and new trim bracket on to the trim shaft. If you don't mark the shaft to joint sections, that could be WAY out of whack now. I would not fly the plane again until you correct this. You could run in to a flight control issue... That is concerning if they did the work without doing something as simple as marking with a sharpie the original locations of that shaft. I also suggest you take the panels off by the tail section where the links are at and check the pitch servo cable mount. It's two aluminum pieces that sandwiches the end of the pitch tube and there are 3 mounting tabs of various lengths that also get bolted in between the aluminum pieces. This is what the cable attaches to. In my install, all of that was pretty close to the bulkhead, and so if you don't align things up properly, that mounting point could potentially hit the bulkhead, which could stop you from having pitch control. You can't cut corners here. I feel that there is some real danger present back there and if this wasn't done right, the consequences could be pretty severe....
  13. Can't do it. I had to buy two..
  14. Whoa! I have not had that scammer yet. What a jerk! Thanks for the heads up!
  15. Are these still available? @Alan Fox
  16. @Jerry Pressley Looking for a Right Inner gear door for my m20J. Any possibility one of those is sitting out there? Part number is 550060-002
  17. Didn't fit properly?? How so? They say they come oversized, and you trim to fit. was that the biggest issue? Or was it something worse.
  18. And now for my request lol.. Hey @Jerry PressleyAre there any interior pieces for a 79 J model available? Pretty much anything would be useful. Almost every screw hole in my panels are cracked slightly
  19. Do you have a specific part number you're after? I may have one for you.
  20. I have a vacuum gauge out of my J that I don't need anymore. Shoot me a PM if you want it.
  21. Greetings. I have recently upgraded from a century 41 AP to the Garmin GFC500. I did this because my Attitude Indicator that controls it started failing on me one day and started tumbling. The bearings or something internal seems to have failed as the vacuum pump was functioning just fine. (The AI was the only thing being driven by the pump) I am not quite sure on the price, and while I have everything for it. I did have to cut the plugs to pull all the wiring out. There is about 10" of a pigtail from each plug though, so not difficult to get put back together IF you needed to. I am selling this for parts, as I know parts availability is scarce with these old AP's. I have everything in a box here at home now, so let me know what you need or if you want pics of something. Cheers! -Chris
  22. I may still have mine from going to led's.. I don't have the strobes anymore though.
