  1. So am I missing something? I thought the best way to go with just a nominal amount of cost was with the GI275s
  2. of course it does. I stay on top of eveything regardiing annual and 100 hour, take care of every thing that may come up as far as any maintinance needs.
  3. Sometimes I feel like an ignorant mooney owner and pilot. I fly my '65 M20 E and just enjoy it and fix what needs to be fixed when it needs it. Then I read something about and down play in my pivot to nose truss connection and have no idea what is being discussed. Everything on this site seems to talk about what should be could be isn't quite right and want it to be. Should I quit flying because I don't know as much as many of you do and am not concerned about every detail of the plane? Help me.
  4. Don't know if this will help you but this what I have found. DD RAJAY Flight Manual Supplement for E.pdf Rajay Airplane Flight Manual Supplement11122019.pdf
  5. Just another good site. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2022/august/pilot/events-hangout-in-spokane
  6. Hope to see a bunch of you coming to this event in Spokane. Wonderful area and nice airport. Lots of activities and it should be fun. Look into it and come. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2022/august/pilot/events-hangout-in-spokane Dick
  7. Did this when my grand son was just months old and then had him fly with me as he got older. He is now a graduate of UND bachilors programe and instucting. Commericial heliocopter with double II as well as being checked out in my M20E. Start them young and create the interest. I am so blessed tat happpened. DD
  8. Found this interesting. Totally side story. My 23 yo grandson is instucting helicopter a UND having graduated last spring. He's checked out in my 66 M20E but hasn't flown it since last winter. He came home to Spokane so of course we had to go flying and get those three landings in. So he told me that they are going 100% UL94. They have 123 aircraft and 7 helicopters
  9. I put in the tail beacon last year and it has worked great. Talked ATC a few times confirming it's working. I just need to always remember to turn my navigation lights on.
  10. I have a 1966 M20E with a Ray Jay turbo. Just curious what kind of manifold pressure anyone with this is getting say around 12,000 feet? Thanks, Dick
  11. That's good news. I'm going to have my right replace in about 2 months
  12. For me it totally depends on whether it's hard surface or grass. Landed last week at Cavanaugh at Priest Lake (North Idaho) no problem. 3100. But took everything I had to get up on wet grass on take off with just two of us in it.
  13. Any way we can get the insurance carriers to not cover pilot error for gear up landings and we can reduce the cost of insuranfce for those of us that are willing to accept the cost and expense of our own mistakes. i buy for those things over which I have no control. I don't expect the rest of the population to pay for my personal stupidity and am willing to pay for it myself if it happens. Dick
  14. Brought the opposite side in to a paint shop for a match and just was told they have the colors ready in spray cans. Anxious to see if I can match well enough to be satisfied. Will use the same to paint my previous mistake on the the outside wing corner. Was finally able to get a hanger at KCOE and will do it when I get inside. DD
  15. Hear about a gear up landing at KCOE. Coeur d'Alene, ID/
  16. Don't know if you have solved you need but I can't say enough about Joe A and his crew. kirk who owns Cd'A aviation just bought all the resort aviation facility, moved from the west side to the east side airport next to 2/20 and have a nice big roomy shop. They have treated me exceptionally well and are doing my annual on the 18th this month. Needed a rear cone stinger fairing and they had an intern search and found one for me in Brazil. 2808 635-0805. Dick
  17. Anybody have this happen to them
  18. Thanks to all that responded. The direction recommended is pretty much the way I thought I should go.
  19. I mentioned the other day about my accident regarding putting my wing tip into my car and ending up with a hole in the leading edge. My question is should I turn this into my insurance for a claim? Repair will be under $2000. Currently paying a about $3200 for the insurance. How would that impact me? Dick
  20. Thanks for all the positive support. Sounds crazy but I was pretty down on myself, but all is well. Here are pictures.
  21. Went for a short flight out of KCOE a couple of days ago. Have an outside parking place with plug in for my Tanis heater so nice place. Just ordered a tow hitch that I didn't have. Decided to come in "backwards" to the T. Looking completely to the right to make sure I didn't go over tie downs or chocks. Didn't look to the left as we all should watch all wing tips and put the wing into the back window of my car that I had parked behind the plane. Nice hole in the leading edge. Only the size of a quarter but still. Got home and tow bar was at the door. Good timing. SHIT
  22. Picture of Grandson and pland
  23. For months I have wanted to share my recent experience on this site which I have been reading, enjoying and getting a great deal of information from other Mooney owners over the last many months. I owned in a partnership a c182 for 25 years and had to sell it about 7 years ago. divorce and life changes. had always dreamt of getting a Mooney. Looked at my resources and age and said I could and should do it. Figured 10 years or so of health and at least I think mental acuity to continue flying and could afford it. besides, have a 22-year-old grandson that really wanted me to get it. I’ll tell more about this soon. we shopped together. So in March I found a 1966 M20E with Ray Jay. Good condition, low hours and reasonable price. Live in Spokane and thought I’d have to look and travel all over to find one, but one was in Moses Lake about 100 miles away. Bought it and started my adventure. I got a hold of an instructor and began my training and transition from the high wing, fixed gear experience. got checked out and flew a bit. Got about 25 hours in it and wanted to get it to my grandson to get his rating in it. This is what I want I really want to share. For those of you that have children and grandkids this is special. Love this young man. Grandson is a senior student at U of North Dakota in the aviation program. Already at 22 a commercial helicopter pilot with instructor rating but not fixed wing. So I’ve helped get the new generation into flying. So in June he and I flew it back to Grand Forks for me to leave it with him to get certified. A few problems and difficulties with the plane and hard time getting A&Ps to work on it took some time along with weather and his schedule kept it with him a bit longer than anticipated. Finally in December he got his check ride done and he is now in that unique arena of being dual certified. And in a Mooney. Then needed to get it back to Spokane/KCOE. With the winter weather. He and a friend got some good weather and got it to Billings. Left it there and went back to UND for finals. Then he, his wife and his instructor got in the car to come home for Christmas. Picked the plane up in Billings and got it to Missoula. I met them and then realized I really should not fly it to Spokane. It was night and not a good idea so drove back home. Last Wednesday we drove to Missoula and after a wait for bad weather finally was able to leave with a clear sky to the west. Flew on top to Sandpoint (KSZT) where we were able to descend through a hole and land. Took a rest and brought it to its home in KCOE. So i finally have it back and now after many months need to refamiliarize myself with instruction to get fly “my” plane again. Thanks for reading. I’ve enjoyed sharing this. Hope you like it. Dick
  24. You make me envious. My M20E doesn't look like that at all. Be Happy you own it.
  25. Thank again guys. Very good input and reflective thoughts. Won't fly and mechanic coming Monday
