  1. thanks! that explains why my Hobbs (3 wire) stopped working after avionics upgrade.
  2. this is probably a stupid question, but how do you know a cylinder needs replacement? Also, how do you determine you need a top overhaul? (what is a top overhaul anyway?) Are these needs indicative of bad handling or just normal statistical wear ? If it is poor handling, then, does the fact of having replaced one or more cylinders indicative of potential issues with other parts of the engine? Actually, I realize these are more than one (stupid) questions
  3. Why is it not a CB then?
  4. GFC 500 So the only function of the switch is to disable the yoke trim switch?
  5. how is this switch supposed to work? in my plane it disables the yoke trim switch but the autopilot can still operate the elevator trim. Is this right or should the switch also disable the autopilot authority on the trim
  6. although not ideal, you can use a flexible turtlepac. I used a 33gal installed on the rear seat but they come in various sizes. The mooney SIM20-132 service instruction allows for overweight operation for ferrying purpose. (I have attached pictures). If you cannot find it, I can send you the pdf file of the complete service instruction. this is off topic, sorry, but I see that you are in turkey. I was planning on traveling to samarkand this summer but current events will prevent me from doing so. I am thinking on going to Turkey instead. Can you tell me which airport in the istanbul area has 100LL and is GA friendly ?
  7. Thank you for giving the chance of reviewing the interpretation of these charts. I'll try (after googling): This is a 36h forecast because generated at 1900z sunday and valid at 0000z tuesday. Dark green represents a >60% chance of rain at the valid time. But is >0.01" of rain considered heavy ? I couldn't find a definition of "heavy" rain. B is the correct answer?
  8. I do not count the annual as it would be required whether EASA or FAA. Setting up a US trust to own the aircraft for a non US person : 1k DAR cost : +/- 5k ferry cost from Europe to "somewhere" on the East coast: roughly 500gal of fuel at an average of 12$/gal = 6k various fees (landing, handling etc)+ lodging + insurance > 10k
  9. I recently moved my plane to the N registry as I am considering selling it in the USA. The main expenditure has been the DAR visit to deliver the CofA. And of course the next one will be the cost of ferrying the plane from Europe. Overall, it will total 20-25k
  10. You need to pay import taxes if bringing a N registered aircraft in the USA from Canada (or elsewhere)?
  11. Garmin's own people probably don't know as much! How about a webinar on all these findings?
  12. Mine too, yet the battery died because the plane was not used for about a month and it would not charge anymore. Maybe the issue goes beyond the published list.
  13. There are only 3 mooney centers in europe if you want your prebuy done by a MSC. There is one in France and, although I have no direct experience with them, I think they do both import and export planes from/to the USA.
  14. The owner could be a US person
  15. Yes, seing this regularly (g3x, gtn750xi, gnc255) but do not know why. I have just made it part of my check list
  16. Anyone seriously interested ? would a group order bring a discount?
  17. What happens if the STC is inactive in the sense that the owner of the STC is no longer willing to deliver new products, although there is an interest from buyers?
  18. If I own an STC for a modification/enhancement, do I have exclusive right for this enhancement forever or does it, at some point, become public as for some patents?
  19. If I own an STC for a modification/enhancement, do I have exclusive right for this enhancement forever or does it, at some point, become public as for some patents?
  20. You are considering installing a TKS system on your Mooney? I was told it costs around 75k ! I have been wondering if it is worth it or if it would be better to just buy an aircraft which has it already.
  21. 8PM EDT is 2 AM in Europe unfortunately. Is the webinar recorded?
  22. Great contribution. I wish I had this when I took delivery of my plane! It would have saved me a lot of frustration.
  23. They speak perfect English
  24. Does this mean that the fuel planning section on the gtn will get actual ff data ?
  25. I wonder what avatar you would have chosen with my accent!! I understand and agree with you. I see that it is not the first time you mention a faq section. without success apparently.
