  1. Yes Karnaugh, another dang engineer (inguneer) lol, I’m sick of us inguneers
  2. I don’t know if the k model has a “shower of sparks” like my 66 e model does. That’s a good place to start looking. I had the classical hard to start problem. Also check wire connections at starter motor, solenoid, engine ground strap, and ignition switch. I found loose wires in my ignition switch that just needed to be tightened up. I also had a loose connection at the main starter motor cable. Has the engine “kicked back” or tried to start in reverse?
  3. I was hoping someone would disagree with me lol
  4. Here’s some positive words... “I’m going to fly my Mooney this afternoon. Who wants to go?”
  5. Very cool. Thanks!
  6. Thanks Clarence! I’ll recheck and redo my safety wire. Glad you caught that.. Chris
  7. The video as promised... enjoy! Chris
  8. Please post pictures. Do these “pop in” or screw in type (3 screws)? Thanks
  9. Well darn... I looked at all three wheel hubs and noticed no screw holes to mount a hub cap. Are my wheels not original? Maybe the hub caps pop on/off. ...wishful thinking I guess.
  10. I wasn’t able to find them on Spruce or Lasar. I’ll call them.
  11. I don’t mind at all. I look for reasons to fly or work on my Mooney.
  12. lol, I don’t have hub caps, but want them. Please share pics of yours. Original, after market, show em off, thanks! ..and where did you buy them.
  13. Thanks sm, I had an annual 2 months ago so I may leave the bearings alone this time around. I’ve seen a few good videos based on typical Cessna tire replacement. Just looking for a Mooney specific video.
  14. Is there a video on this? If not, I’ll make one to share. I searched, but unable to find one. I have a flat spot that developed into cord starting to show. So... I’ll be preparing for this. Thanks!
  15. Root cause was the retard p-lead was shorting with the grounded shield. It was worn right at the round mag connector nut.. a likely spot for failure. I had this repaired by a mechanic and now she starts right up! No more kickback. I’ll attach pics. So... in a nutshell someone disabled the Shower of Sparks when the problem was a worn retard p-lead. Case closed.
  16. Carosam, where did you get yours? Thanks.
  17. Pj, that’s what I need. Where did buy that?
  18. A 5” x 7” Tupperware plastic over the top of the radio stack in addition to the weather strip. The first time you fly in the heavy rain and you feel drips on you legs... will certainly get your attention. Protect your avionics stack!,
  19. I recently flew to a destination, tied down, shade on the front screen. Came time to leave its 100 degF outdoors and maybe 120 in the cockpit.. sweat pouring into my eyes, damn! It gets hot here in Texas. I’m more concerned for my passengers and their comfort and safety.. and then find myself in a hurry to get the engine started for cooling. Then in a hurry to climb to altitude for cooler air. Hazardous attitude! So is there some sort of solar powered ventilation fan available to hang in the vent window to keep the cockpit closer to OAT when parked? Will that even help?
  20. Are there any cars in the factory parking lot? I’m needing a part that Lasar has to order from the factory. Lasar tells me they placed an order to Mooney for a dozen of this particular part.
  21. Stlll trying to find mine (newbie owner).
  22. I’d say a little good old fashioned elbow grease is needed (pun intended) LOL
  23. I’d expect to see some fresh grease oozing around the grease fittings. I don’t think this was performed in last annual. No big deal, but I’d like to add some grease myself. What grease (Aeroshell 20?) and grease gun is recommended for a DIY guy. Please don’t shoot the newbie. I wasn’t successful finding an old thread where this is covered. Thanks guys.
  24. I would have, but they told me I had to order from a retailer.
  25. I’m wanting to upgrade my JPI 700 to a 830. I’ve seen there is a upgrade price on Aircraft Spruce for $1,200 + probes + core charge. Do you guys have a preference on supplier... Aircraft Spruce, or other supplier? I wonder if there are places to avoid or recommend and why. Thanks.
