  1. Quick update: although I didn't receive any email from FAA, I decided to randomly check this evening and my aircraft ownership information was hidden on the FAA N-Number registry site. Small victory.
  2. @Parker_Woodruff any thoughts on this? If it drops insurance rates, I would be up for flying to FL for this :-)
  3. Congrats @Ragsf15e - now cross the mountains and get over to the west side for lunch :-)
  4. Nevermind, I take that back. The Maps and Charts section of the menu is located at the bottom of the menu. I am used that section being at the top in Foreflight and you know the UI here vaguely resembles some other app's UI ...
  5. Guessing that this is on their roadmap. Also no raster chart support yet.
  6. The new Jepp charts subscription for avionics includes 4 mobile devices.
  7. Garmin just upped the ante with their web planning software. This was one feature I used extensively with Foreflight. Surely reduces friction when transitioning to Garmin Pilot completely. https://pilotweb.garmin.com/
  8. @HolyMicro this system does look promising. Have a question for you - how does it detect the gear is down and locked? Is it splicing into existing wiring harness?
  9. There's always oil lines and the other outbound or inbound line to the turbo right up against it so yes, it always in close contact with something that can chafe against it. I had mine preemptively replaced after 40 years of service. @Neshi do you have a source for a replacement?
  10. Thanks @Marc_B and @Gee Bee Aeroproducts, mine need replacement too. Here's the Foam Mart source for those you are interested: https://foammart.com/product/ensolite/ These guys, https://foamforyou.com/ensolite-foam?srsltid=AfmBOorKHBOTLw_VWnBWJRiLxiDlfYJNoLTYzd1UVSBOhK5UbXpPHOAX, have other colors for those who want to get the lighter colors.
  11. Apologies to folks if I offended anyone. I am one of those geek/nerds. Was an operating systems guy and then ran into databases and that enabled me to buy my 252….and maintain it. Great to see so many tech-savvy folks and engineers on MooneySpace. If Mooney were to ever disappear, I am confident we have the talent here to sustain and improve our beloved birds as a collective!
  12. We should have a vote on this thread to see how many people understand what the rest of the nerds mooniacs are talking about ...
  13. @Ayrton btw have you obtained a copy of the logbooks in electronic form from the seller? You can see which shops they have been to, and I would highly recommend going to a different shop. Although you have the local options, it doesn't hurt to have it be flown down to Advanced Aircraft in KTTD or Lasar (now in S39). Oregon is only about an hour away and it's a fair distance for the owner to fly to for a pre-buy. Both of these shops are MSCs and would know what to look for in detail. Once you decide on where, you should have a checklist of specific callouts for the pre-buy and then vet to make sure their inspection list covers what you want. Happy to help if you would like with guidance etc, and of course if you want a trip down to one of these shops.
  14. Well it's based off of unix principles, not a copy per se. BSD is more of a "copy" or as they call it derivative work of AT&T Unix.
  15. Exactly and the unfamiliar with take the code produced by AI as-is. It requires experience to detect when it's wrong or sub optimal. That costs $$ if you want to avoid costlier mistakes in production.
  16. Jeppesen has the advantage of being the go-to charting solution for airlines (as far as I can tell). As a result, I imagine as new airlines pop up across the world, they become new potential customers for Jeppesen.
  17. Wouldn't it be nice ... to have Garmin buy out Jeppesen and Foreflight? They can augment their own product and data line with these and would make a solid offering to the aviation community. Albeit, might be starting to be a monopoly...
  18. +1 on Casey at Crown. Although they are not a MSC, he is thorough and dives deep into problems to resolve them instead of applying the first potential fix after a cursory glance. Highly recommended!
  19. Aviall/Boeing has them in stock for around $1271.42. If you have a shop who still has an account, they can get one for you.
  20. +1 on auto body. Grab a piece at least 2x2 inches and they should be able to scan and produce a color code for you. And sell you the paint too
  21. I would imagine you want to reseal, let it cure for a while and then paint and then let that cure. This is the general advice I have been given by many and was my plan of action once my plane visits MN. Not sure about how long to wait after resealing tanks but I am sure someone can chime in. What in the tank sealant can cause paint to get damaged if cured properly?
  22. @Marc_B you saw mine, painted like the others here. Sad to hear the shop left it bare metal instead of asking. Will this be on the TODO list when you take it down again?
