  1. All as removed for a dual G5 install. Sigma Tek attitude gyro: $250 shipped. Mooney ARC AF-512B autopilot complete - it worked, but it definitely needs some sort of service - it wandered alot. The DG was overhauled in March of last year. $500 for the whole thing, wiring, connectors, trays, etc - or make me an offer for pieces?
  2. I bought a very well maintained C model. The nicest one I’d seen on the market. I’ve still spent in the neighborhood of $30k on it (excluding fuel) in the 2 years and 400 hours I’ve been flying it. Granted, a hefty portion of that was upgrades I chose to do (upgraded leather front seats, yokes, avionics, etc) but even a good example sucks up money.
  3. Someone bought that super duper 21. I think it was $165k+ last time I saw it. Maybe this guy figured he could ride the wave.
  4. Sounds like an OWT to me. I read my policy. Doesn’t make any mention of where I should sit, nor is there any legal guidance that says left seat is PIC.
  5. Seems like another one is always showing up. I can think of at least 10. Not counting the derelicts on the north ramp
  6. There's enough stuff on the screen. If they had terrain on there too, I feel like it would be way too cluttered
  7. Saw this Mooney move in down the way from me. Stallings name on the prop. Looks like David's work on the cowl..
  8. So, my CFII had me center the horizon bar on the ground, then correct it in flight. Looks that was always wrong. And thanks to this thread, I now understand why. And it makes sense!
  9. Right, but there isn't one pitch attitude for level flight. With glass, you're "stuck" with level attitude, not pitch. Right?
  10. Think about this Anthony. You're in landing configuration. You're behind the power curve. You're full power, just maintaining altitude. What is your pitch relative to the horizon? What would happen if you adjusted your AI to match that new "level flight attitude"?
  11. The horizon is level when the plane is level. But if your cg is a little aft or forward, you're light or heavy, "level" doesn't necessarily reflect the relationship of the instrument to the horizon. Did that make any sense
  12. This is the first glass I've ever used. I read the explanation from Garmin and it sorta makes sense. The horizon doesn't move. The G5 reflects where the horizon is, not your pitch attitude to an artificial horizon. My CFII really drilled into me resetting the horizon once in cruise, this is gonna take a while to get used to.
  13. Did you know that the horizon isn't adjustable in flight? It's set on the ground, and that's what you get. It's a little weird not being able to adjust a degree or 2 based on your flight profile.
  14. Is crownair completely closing, or only closing their MSC “status”?
  15. There's an electric conversion STC now, it might be the better way to go, the bellows seem hard to come by
  16. I did one for my plane and got all the reports. Not sure why it works sometimes and not others
  17. I've thought about doing the same to my Johnson bar C. All the research I've done suggests it's not a great idea.
  18. I've got a lot of crown air signatures in my logs. Never had a problem with any of the work they've done. Too bad to hear they're gone.
  19. I've got a good working sigmatek 5000 I just removed for a G5 upgrade. Don't know the model number offhand. I'll be at the hangar tomorrow and can get you better details. Here's a pic. Seems they go for $6-700 on eBay. I'll take $500 for it, shipped, if you're interested.
  20. I know there's one at Payson, but it looks pretty dated.
  21. Cool! Fortunately I got it done with a sight compass. It says calibration complete, and on the ground reads pretty much perfect it seems.
  22. I found a couple, but haven’t corrected for them. For instance, let’s say the sun visors were removed (.6lbs) but the w/b wasn’t changed. In theory, the plane wouldn’t be airworthy without them installed, since they’re listed on the original equipment list. Similar idea with items such as carb temp gauge.
  23. Oh and I gained 19lbs useful! That old autopilot was heavy! Just the servo and control boxes weighed 13lbs.
