  1. Dumb question--but is it possible its reporting oil temps in Celsius?
  2. $35?????? Jesus dude. I'll hit you up in 5 years--I paid $150 per hose from some hose guy in Denver. I was told the fittings alone were $30 each.
  3. Pilot's side, behind the exhaust manifold...sorry I don't have a better photo, but I circled it.
  4. This is EXACTLY the conversation I was hoping to have. Thanks for jumping in everyone!
  5. This is great advice. Otherwise the pup steps on it... Also, you'll need to take a photo with headphones on your dog and then write something clever like, "Dog is my copilot."
  6. Dan...was the beating sound the prop shedding ice? Was your climb rate anemic? Amazing that 1/2 inch would make that much of a difference--you must have been shitting bricks.
  7. I've never picked up more than trace ice on my wing so I have ever noticed an effect on lift or airspeed--nor do I ever want to. However, I am fascinated by how a little ice can take down an aircraft. I am interested to hear stories from anyone who has picked up moderate ice on their non-FIKI Mooney. How did the plane perform? What did you do? And i've heard/read that icing on the prop is more critical than the wing--any first hand accounts? Any photos? Videos?
  8. +2 for vacuum pump and/or mag seal, or oil cooler/prop gov fittings. Other than a crack in the case--those are pretty much the only places you'd see a leak high up on the back of the engine.
  9. I have! Century Flight Systems in Texas is a good spot...and on a trip I had an avionics guy (Don) in at KMJX in Ocean County, NJ...I had pitch and roll problems...he checked it all out, replaced my altitude can, replaced a few connectors (~$1500) and she was good as new.
  10. Don't keep track of costs. You're a pilot—not an accountant. Nothing good comes from fiduciary diligence.
  11. Just a quick report back--14 hoses in total, $2400!!!! Jesus. That's a lot of $ for hoses, noses? I should make contact with my FSDO and yell at them for making us do this every 5 years.
  12. Well--was able to test flight her post annual. Here's what I found...the burp still happens when the engine is cold. Still see a quick dip in fuel pressure. My A&P now thinks it may be an intake valve not closing for a hot second, allowing fuel to escape, combust and create a higher pressure in the intake manifold, forcing the upper deck reference line to read a split second drop in pressure. However, if I warm her up it doesn't happen at all...so, I guess I'll just keep her warm!!!!
  13. And for what it's worth, my insurance went from $1800 to $900 as a result of the rating...
  14. Going on 4 weeks here...mind you, my A&P is understaffed and dealing with lots of external factors (health/family) and I have been owner assisting (I think I put in roughly 20-25 hours). I was able to, with his guidance, get a lot done; remove/replace belly panels, replace all oil/fuel/air hoses per RayJay AD, change oil, clean/gap plugs, replace vacuum pump, clean injectors, check fuel screen, repack bearings, grease fittings, lube all trim/push rod connectors...and then some. So, I ask you--without a major repair, how long does your annual usually take?
  15. I use an iPad mini and Stratus 2S, using the RAM clamp, mounted to my center roll cage bar just above the compass (photo to come)...it gets in the way of the visor but it's a pretty handy location. I tried it on the yoke but it got in the way of the lower 3 on the six pack. Kind of annoying to have it so close as well. That being said, it's a little annoying to have it 30 degrees up and to the right. There's no perfect place.
  16. Never tried--since it happens full rich on the runway. I'm putting her back together today and we'll do a leak check. I'll report back.
  17. I'm verbally calling out Vref...one last gear check...scanning the runway for jackalopes...centerline...wind correction...eyes on the landing spot...power off when the runway is made....@5 feet, eyes at the end of the runway...touch nothing until I am off the runway.
  18. Interesting--the info plate on my IO360A1A has the 25 scratched out and a 20 stamped on it right below. Checked the mags today and they are at 20...
  19. As promised--here's a few photos of the new hoses!
  20. Apparently, you can call the FSDO and get a 7-year Teflon approval...i think the 7 years refers to how much time it takes to get the approval, heyoooo!
  21. Hi Mike, the fuel, air and oil hoses have to be replaced every 5 years per AD 81-19-04 http://flyabonanza.com/ADs_files/AD 81-19-04.pdf
