  1. Jimmy and Dave are world class, they paint a very realistic picture of their product. They follow through and do what they say they are going to do. They found me a jewel of a M20J at a fair price.
  2. Off course I do, every time I take off! So the math is conservatively 20% of full throttle assuming linear curve flow, ergo it should run out in about 3 min or so at idle, just a WAG off course. Cheers
  3. Checklist says check both left and right tanks during preflight. Manual also says engine will quit 2-3 sec after placing fuel in shutoff (full throttle). Seems the fuel line will purge pretty quickly.
  4. I have an A&P friend that mentioned the battery, don't remember the brand but it was a glassmatt type and it weighed about 5lbs less. Sorry can't do better than that right now... Loogie
  5. It is an M20J Special Edition, it has a lot of MSE features. The headrests are original to the plane. Loogie
  6. Seth thanks, that will be awesome! Loogie
  7. I was asked by a few folks what the weight gain or loss was for my new interior. I had the whole thing redone, including panels, carpet, yolks etc. the overall difference in weight was +5 lbs. I would say that was pretty darn good! In other words negligible to my weight carrying capacity from my original interior. I will get the 5 lbs back when I go to a lighter and better battery in the future when my current one kicks the bucket. Overall Aerocomfort was fabulous to work with, on time, and the job was as good or better than my German engineering toy at home. Cheers, Loogie

It's a CAP-10B, French by Avion Mudry, I have a lot of time in that machine!
  9. Insert a plastic tube that reaches down to the pan, it will drain into you pan and will be obvious that you have to remove it along w the pan when you are pulling her out of the hangar.
  10. How about the ram air intake, the one that's supposed to give you an extra inch of man pressure but doesn't. Does that have to be disconnected as well?
  11. I am going to scrub my M20J, will start with engine, wheel wells, then belly followed by waxing and polishing the rest. How hard is it to pull bottom cowl? Anyone have some gouge I can use ? What do I use to clean oil and grease from engine cowl flaps and gear well, suggestions? Appreciate any insight Loogie
  12. Got her back home yesterday, she is cozy in her new hangar! Had good tail winds, but had to deal w lots of the white vertical stuff, which meant IFR from TX to GA...
  13. I disagree w the generic term of everyone loosing their stick and rudder skills. I fly w Capts that routinely fly to cruising alt. No rule against that in our company, I have never had a chief pilot call me and say why I didn't engage the autopilot at 1500ft, I have watched many Capts fly hands on approaches to very difficult situations, tough crosswinds, cat III approaches that have to be hand flown in our airplane due to the HUD Etc. I would not blink an eye at flying w out an autopilot with any of the guys I fly with. Be careful generalizing everyone's skills and assuming comments are correct. In my company you can hand fly to any altitude and hand fly down from any altitude. Automation is extremely helpful at reducing workload, but don't think for a minute that the average well trained crew can't fly without an autopilot. Or that they "lost" their stick and rudder skills.
  14. Appreciate all the welcomes! Not sure where first x-c will be to w/Fam, I am sure I won't get a vote though! They pretty much refurbished everything, including plastic.
  15. Expect to pick it up on the 22nd this month. Yes 480 is a nice FMS system and very efficient am sure will miss it a little. However I am sure the 530W will do what it is supposed to do. I even have a NAV card ready to go...A nice tidbit I got from this forum.
  16. Sounds like fun, I can swing it during the week, but prob not until May for me. Here is a pic of the Waco I rejoined over kittyhawk, and pitched out, however it was on my Maule not my Mooney...
  17. Thanks for the welcome. Lots of good info have I learned from this site. Carusoam, I have only flown it for less than an hour, I will get an orientation from All American when I go pick it up, not new to Mooney's but new to a G530W. I am sure I will miss the GNS480 from my other ride... Looking forward to hitting my fly fishing escapades at new speeds! Loogie
  18. Hi, New guy on MooneySpace, I live in Smithfield VA and am the proud new owner of N57986, it was a single owner plane, bought it from All American, great guys! It has less than 30hrs on a newly SMOH engine and about 2,030 total hours. I put a new interior from Aero Comfort, can't say enough great things about that outfit, on time and superb work. It has aG530W, JPI 730 and a FS450, with a nice autopilot and an HSI. Now I just have to find the time to pick it up from SAT! Pics attached.
