  1. In the last week, the JPI 700 in my J occasionally gives me an EGT Diff 130+ alarm while taxiing. 1 and 3 are low and 2 and 4 are high. It only occurs at low power; during run-up and in flight the EGTs remain fairly close together - usually a Dif of 40, sometimes as much as 60 (I don't have GAMI injectors). What could cause this? Is it a symptom of a serious problem?
  2. My wife named our J before we even bought her. She saw the registration (C-GWED) and said "her name is Gwendolyn".
  3. Mine is Gwendolyn, my wife named her and thought of the name from the registration ( C-GWED)
  4. I went ahead and bought an IFD440. I can't compare it to a GTN650 as I've never used one, but I do like it a lot more than my old GNS430. User interface is so much better, flight plan entry is a breeze, very easy to use.
  5. I'll try that, thanks.
  6. Thanks Clarence. Would you say it's safe for me to wait until I bring it to you in January for its annual?
  7. I have had my J for 8 months now and fuel pressure used to sit somewhere in the bottom of the green arc - around 17-20 psi. But for the last few weeks it is up around the the top of the green arc - around 27-29 psi and if I turn the boost pump on it hits the red line. Is this an indication of something going wrong? On the one hand it's in the green so that should be ok, but it is a rather large and sudden change which has me concerned. Thanks
  8. I would like to know if anyone has an IFD440 and what they think of it? Is there any justification for spending an extra ~$5,000 over buying a used 430W? Thanks!
  9. Is it still available? I need to replace my 430.
  10. I need a 14 volt; thanks for the reply though n74795
  11. It does suck. The previous owner is an insurance broker and he had insured the owner prior to him - and he insures me now. Apparently that owner had made a claim that the 430 was stolen (15 or so years ago), but looking through the logs, I see no reference to it being stolen or a new unit being installed. So we are assuming that the guy lied about it being stolen, pocketed the insurance money, pulled the tag off and put it back in the plane. The insurance company that insured the plane at the time has (I'm told) since been bought out by another company and they haven't kept the records from that long ago. So I don't believe I have any recourse???
  12. Unfortunately, after I bought the plane in March, I went to have the 430 upgraded to WAAS and upon removing from the panel discovered that it did not have a serial number tag on it. Garmin says they won't touch it.
  13. The GNS430 in my J has died. If anyone is about to upgrade and wants to sell their 430 (preferable WAAS), I need a replacement. Thanks.
  14. I bought my first plane in March - an M20J - I've put 60 hours on it so far and had no regrets. I was flying a 182 before and while it is larger inside, I actually find the Mooney more comfortable on long flights.
