CoachTom Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Any body know how the gyro fails in the King HSI? It worked yesterday, no problems, then today; no gyro, no flags. of course OBS works and Glideslope, but the card is not slaved or moving. When I try to adjust the heading/NAV bug, the compass card turns with the bug. Both connections are snugly fit in the back of the HSI with the ear snap retaining clips in place. All breakers were cycled and functioning as well as in. Just odd, no sluggishness, or poor performance, it just isn't working. I understand there are two power feeeds to it, but would anyone also have a idea where to look? Any clues, hints or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! V/R Quote
Bob Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 I had my Airspeed, Alt and AI overhauled last year. You may want to call http://www.flyaqi.com/. I was given the source from my avionics installer. I am very pleased with their knowledge, service and price! If I remember right, they could not do one of the 3 instruments that I sent in, so they helped me out and hand delivered one to http://kelleyinstruments.com/ that is located very close to them. Quote
laytonl Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Bob Bramble at Aerolabs Aviation just repaired mine. Excellent to work with and a quick turn around. It sounds like it is in the KI-525, but probably should send the gyro too. Lee Quote
Alan Fox Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 Sounds like a power issue , the gyro is in the back of the plane , hit the master and listen to it with a screwdriver , you should hear it turn , if not check power going to it,... Quote
danb35 Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 I've also had Bob Bramble do work for me (a DG repair), and was very satisfied--he seems to specialize in the KI-525 system. http://www.aerolabaviation.com/ Quote
