LFOD Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Ran 5767Z through her paces yesterday in the cold weather. Climbing at 500 FPM through 14,500 with about 90KIAS. Very cool as I had never been that high before. The view is spectacular. Here is some video. I am going to be sad to see her go. Quote
Buster1 Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Neat vids! May I ask why you have to sell her? You seem like you love that plane. Sorry bro. Quote
LFOD Posted December 6, 2009 Author Report Posted December 6, 2009 Thanks. http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&forumid=1&threadid=600 Basically, no military exemption for the sales tax in WA and I am not paying them for the privilege of keeping it here for another 12 months when the Army moves me again. LFOD Posted December 7, 2009 Author Report Posted December 7, 2009 You dont have to pay it every year, although there may be a use tax associated with it. I deal with this nonsense every time I move to a new state (about every 1.5 years). I would pay it if it was a more reasonable rate, but 10% is absolutely absurd. This is my fault as I did not do enough research before I purchased the plane. Oh well, lesson learned. Quote
piperpainter Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Oregon....thats all I have to say! Quote
rbharvey Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Actually in TX, having the aircraft in a corporation that is tied to revenue genrating actvities is far worse, you get subject personal property tax at the same rate as owning a home, ridiculous....at 2.7% yearly Quote
N6843N Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 When I lived in Ca it was kinda bruttle. You paid sales tax when you bought a plane and a personal unsecured tax every year. The yearly deal was 1% of the value which was $47,500 so $475 a year. The bad part for me was every year I got a bill from two different countys. I lived in San Bernardino and worked in Riverside so if I cummuted to work in the plane on Jan 1 they both tried to collect $475. It was a real mess a couple years until I learned not to fly on Jan 1. Quote
rotorman Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 LFOD, email me. I may be able to help with the tax thing. willflyforcash@hotmail.com Quote
231Pilot Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 My rate of climb drops below 500fpm around 8000', but I usually climb at 105kts. rather than 90kts. I'll have to see how she performs at 90. Quote
jasonwojo Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 Two words...Oregon and New Hampshire!!! I am military, also, and have never paid tax on any of my planes. Email me if you want to know more (jasonwojo@msn.com)... Quote
