fatlasercat Posted December 9, 2025 Report Posted December 9, 2025 Anyone has a spare ASI that could be installed in a 2900GW M20J? We currently have a Sigma Tek 820308-525, but it's leaking and wouldn't pass pitot/static check. Thanks.
KSMooniac Posted December 9, 2025 Report Posted December 9, 2025 I went thru this last year and would advise you not to mess around with a used one unless you bench-check it first for leakage. Seals are not available for many of these old ones, unfortunately. I had Century Instruments in Wichita mark a freshly-overhauled United ASI for my J and would recommend that course vs. gambling on some salvage/used ones. 1
PT20J Posted December 9, 2025 Report Posted December 9, 2025 Check with Skylar Thody at Skyman Avionics 541-604-9573. I think he still has mine from my 1994 M20J MSE. It was working fine when removed for the G3X installation.

Interestingly the v speeds are different on ours. https://www.skymanavionics.com/product-page/sigmatek-airspeed-indicator-40-210-kts

We're actually considering an avionics upgrade, so don't want to spend on the old equipment, just looking for a temp fix. We might just go VFR only until the upgrade. 1

It’s Mooney part number 820308-535 which according to the IPC was used on SN 24-3201, 24-3218 on. The IPC lists several part numbers of ASI for various M20J serial numbers. EDIT. I see yours is a -525. Edited December 10, 2025 by PT20J
