hais Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 Is the rate an arbitrary number, or is there a significance to the 2 minutes?
N201MKTurbo Posted June 23, 2023 Report Posted June 23, 2023 When doing holds, each turn takes one minute. The two minute turn is easy to figure in your head. 180 degrees in one minute, 45 degrees in 30 seconds 15 degrees in 10 seconds. It used to be very important in instrument flying. If you are flying IFR without a DG, it is invaluable. Not so much any more, we just follow the magenta line.
