Gagarin Posted April 17, 2020 Report Posted April 17, 2020 I used to own a 1966 M20C with the retractable step. But the problem I found with it is trying to quickly board and unboard passengers with the engine running. When the step is retracted it makes difficult for short passengers. To insure the step is extended with the engine off lubricate it with a silicon base lubricant. All other low wing planes (including Mooneys after 1978) have fix steps. Quote
