Shadrach Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I'm flying out to Denver next week. Won't have time to to attend the MAPA course but will have an afternoon/evening one day to take my brother up for a scenic tour of some sort. I lived on the Front Range for 14 years but never as a pilot, so I'd welcome suggested itineraries to take my bro' up for a nice scenic cruise for a late afternoon/evening, someplace with a restaurant would be great. Will be flying out of Centennial, KAPA. Thanks! Jeff Quote
Jeff_S Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 Interesting...never had the "logged in as somebody else" bug hit me before. That was Jeff_S (me) who made the Front Range request. Quote
FoxMike Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 I would suggest Pueblo (KPUB) via west side of Pikes Peak (assuming you have some mountain experience). You could also head to Salida(KANK), they have courtesy cars and a great airport manager. You should have some mountain experience for this trip. No mountain experience try Greeley(KGXY) or Ft. Morgan(KFMM). The weather has been hot, if the temperatures continue plan for high density altitudes. Quote
RJBrown Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I used to do a big circle around the area. APA Cenntennial, BJC Jeffco, BDU Boulder, LMO Vance Brand, FNL Loveland-Fort Collins, GXY Greeley, FTG front Range and back to APA. Pueblo has a B24 Museum, a B29 being restored and a lot of old military planes on display. One of the more interesting places if you want to stop. Lake County Airport in Leadville LXV is the highest airport in North America at 9930'. A mountain checkout or proper experiance required. SNY is closed to get a new runway so no trips to Sidney and Cabelas. Quote
Jeff_S Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks all. Good ideas. I spoke to Cleon Biter last night and we're planning a full day of flying on Thursday to do the obligatory mountain tour, including Leadville. I hope the weather will hold for that. Quote
