On a 3 hr flight my nav/com radio flickered and went dark.  Im thinking a grounding problem. The radio was at the repair shop for 10 days 2 months ago when it just changed freq on its own. Does anyone know where I look for the grounding of the radios     1965 super 21      Thanks   DaveB

DaveB - maybe it would be helpful if you mentioned what mode;l nav/com is misbehaving.  Do you have other radios that maintained steady power indication during this period?  Are you certain that the nav/com is fully inserted into it's tray?

In my 65C...  flashing Narco radio screen could only mean one thing...

Conserve energy immediately!

The generator has gone offline without being noticed ...  the battery has been drained... and the voltage is falling out the bottom of the operational range of the radio...

(What else can a Narco radio do?)

So look for anything that is getting in the way of supplying power or ground to the radio, or monitor the voltage at the radio itself...

most often people start with removing the radio and cleaning oxidized contacts...

PP thoughts only, not a radio tech...

Best regards,

I had a similar problem once when rainwater was getting into the radio stack through a gap at the base of the windscreen.. The radio would flicker, cut out, change frequencies and do other weird stuff.  Everything was fine after it dried out and the gap was sealed.
