2 weeks ago, my left strobe light stopped flashing; the right one does it's job as ever.

I have a 1980 M20K with Nav-Lights and strobe covered by plastic glas.

I already learnt that it is a "Hoskin style" flash light. See the picture attached.

Q1: Where can I get a replacement?

On the RH I have plenty of cable to pull out of the wingtip; I can easily reach the connector. Otherwise on the LH this cable seems pretty short and the connector just appears at the cutout. I cannot easily pull the connector and try the flash tube on the working side.

Q2: According to the Maintenance manual, I am thinking that each side has a separate power supply. Is that true ? First of all , I thought it is ONE power supply somewhere in the fuselage

Q3: Where can I get access to the (much too short) cable?

Q4: In case, I have to replace it by a modern product. Which product do you recommend? I think it should be a combined strobe/Nav light such as Whelen Orion

Following this thread.

Yes there are two power supplies each is approx. 30 to 40cm to the win tip inside one of the inspection panel.

You can go full LED.

I wrote a how-to on changing the hoskins strobe to a more modern and cheaper a couple years ago. It's super easy. I'll see if I can find it. Also there's a guy with a bulb for sale in classifieds.
