The-sky-captain Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 The stall strips on my J need to be repainted. Is it ok to just take out the four screws that hold them on and paint them offsite? Is there any special considerations to be taken when taking them off or re installing them? Thanks. Quote
N57039 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Definitely an A&P task. The maintenance manual should address the implications and method for doing this, if it is allowed at all. (I would guess that it is not allowed.) Quote

cliffy Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Why? Because it's not LEGAL unless you're an A&P. Simplicity or complication plays no part. There are only about a dozen fuctions that a non A&P can perform on an airplane (and he must be the operator and a licensed pilot) and they are spelled out quit distinctly in "Preventative Maintenance" in Part 43.13 And, the work does have to be signed off in the Mx log book. Piloto Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 No big deal. I don't even bother to remove them. Just tape the area around, sand them to remove corrosion and spray paint. José Quote
