Several times lately I've pulled the mixture to full lean during shut down and the engine continues to run. I assume something is on the edge of adjustment. Any input? 1978 J.

See mechanic about mixture control...

They have procedures to follow for proper set-up... full out is called idle cut-off... FF is zero at that point...

Full in at WOT also has a FF spec that needs to be met.

Something isn't right. A mechanic should be able to get it set correctly.

If you are hands-on, you can check the far end of the mixture control and see if something is coming apart.

Old mixture controls don't fail nicely...

PP thoughts only, not a mechanic...

Best regards,
