Marauder Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 Yes, I saw yours. Very impressed. I don't need two CDI's now, which is even better! With the discounts i'll probably get a MFD2000 or maybe the 2500. Definitely want SV but not sure the AOA is worth it. May also just stick with a EFD 1000 Pro too...not sure! Like being a kid in a candy store Good time to be looking into these solutions. Good options available. If you opt for the 2000 you will get another HSI. I use it a lot since I like having the GPS overlay on one HSI and either a VOR or ILS on the other. Here is a screen shot of me flying a missed. The HSI on the left is showing the GPS for the missed. The right HSI is set for the ILS. You can see the glideslope indicator on the right side. When I fly an ILS or VOR approach, I will keep primary Nav on the PFD and use the second HSI as either backup or supporting (GPS). What a difference from the stuff available years ago.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro Quote
Northern Mooniac Posted March 28, 2017 Author Report Posted March 28, 2017 That is so slick. Do you have the MFD 2000 then? How do you pick which CDI drives the auto pilot? I'm assuming you could using the right CDI to drive the auto pilot and fly the ils approach? Quote
Marauder Posted March 28, 2017 Report Posted March 28, 2017 I do have the Aspen 2000. The CDIs are selected by toggling through the Nav signals that are available. In this older picture (before I installed a digital GNC 255), the CDIs are selected by toggling through the selection toggle (in the green circle). In the upper left corner of each picture is the selected Nav signal and information related to it. The 067° is the radial of the VOR I am on. When I added the GNC, the frequency is now also reported. If you look at the PFD, you will see two other toggles on each side of the GPS 1 selected. This is for picking other Nav signals to be represented a an RMI needle. Helpful when you are looking to cross a certain radial, etc.As for autopilot control, this picture shows the throwover switch to select between the PFD and MFD for autopilot control.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro Quote
