That's the trend I've seen - in having to replace two of them so far, and both failed within less than 100 hours of each other.  If ERFlyer needs a replacement, the part can be ordered through Peerless Electronics (in Bethpage, just a few miles from where I live actually).  It's manufactured by Kissling, and the part number is a 26.57.01 (300A, 24-V switching relay).  They've come down in price...from about $458 six months ago to $379 presently.

Well you are the expert..but I just went through the same thing...30 sec with a multimeter verified a bad solenoid (battery relay). Battery was fine as was panel switch...the relay is a German manufactured unit and according to Maxwell ,it has a  pretty high 1000 hr failure rate.

Strange, but I haven't seen him post here yet.

Follow up on my original post, thanks to everyone for the input!  The batteries were Concorde's.  The solenoid tested ok, the battery held a charge of 26 volts even after being off the battery minder for several days.    If I then turned on the battery one switch, voltage at the battery dropped to around 4V and nothing came on in the cockpit.  Turn batt 1 switch off, voltage back to 26.  Changed out the battery and all is fixed, so must have been a bad cell within the battery.  Can't complain too much since looking at the logs, the batteries were put in in 2009, unfortunately for me, I just bought the plane in August!  Anyway, thanks to all for the advice, at least I learned a little more about the plane and the electrics!
