Thinking further; how would one do W&B on a paint job. Do the paint guys get the ingredient list of the paint and subtract out the solvents. Or do the aviation paint manufacturers publish the (after application) weight of their paint. And how would you calculate how much is lost in overspray. Just my musings.

You've got to weight the aircraft on load cells at each jack point post paint.  The aircraft will need to have everything removed down to it's basic empty weight to get the new weight.  Balance is calculated from the figures from each load cell.

That's what I was thinking. I was a AMC load planner once upon a time and we weighed each axle and calculated center of mass for cargo. I would assume that weighing an airplane would be similar.

Definitely need to check the density of the paint to make sure it has dried.

Archimedes was the king of density.
