rorythedog Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 we flew our m20j from olathe, kansas to des moines yesterday(happy thanksgiving everyone!) and had a wonderful round trip...max. gross weight, -15c at 6500, and we trued 160kts! but i'm concerned that our oil temp never topped 160 degrees. my old cherokee had a winter plate for the oil cooler to manage this problem. does anyone know if this is available for our mooneys? jlunseth Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Willmar recommends adding an oil cooler block in the winter. I have seen only pictures, it partly blocks the top of the oil cooler. Call them. Quote
rorythedog Posted November 26, 2010 Author Report Posted November 26, 2010 joB, i have read that 180 degrees is the minimum oil temperature required to cleanse any water out(that might be suspended in the oil as a byproduct of combustion). Quote

Kwixdraw Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 Up to 210 or so is not a bad thing. Better to get that water vapor out asap since lots of us fly short, infrequent flights anyway. Quote
skyking Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 My manual calls for a min of 160F oil temp. Quote
skyking Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 My max temp is 240 F ! according to the manual. Quote
