I've used one of these for years; however the price was about half of today's price.  When you need a new cutting wheel, you can buy the $7 replacements, or go to Lowes and find the same thing 2 for $0.47.  Your choice.

I think that is for cutting the pleated filter material out of the assembly after the outer can is cut.

If that's the case, it worth a lot. That's the miserable part of the job IMHO.

This tool is for the paper part of the inner filter and not the metal outer case. It makes the job a lot easier and much cleaner.
