Wesley brown Posted March 1, 2015 Author Report Posted March 1, 2015 Nice one! I think that is a great deal. Post some actual speed and economy numbers when you can. I for one like to know how fast an airplane can go at 6 gpH, 7gph, 8gph etc. I certainly will get some number when I have time to take some trips. My CFI and I flew it the first time and did 4 touch and goes and one landing at home base at 3 different airports and it only burned 8 gallons. We did 25/25 on climb out and was cruising around 23/2400 and I saw 150-160 mph. These were very short legs and I didn't even have time to find step. I flew it to. 38 knot mile abortive the otter day and just as I had got cruising speed I had to throttle back and descends for landing. Planning way out is dodge rant but fun. The grumman I just shot in like a fighter plane very little planning. Quote
Wesley brown Posted March 1, 2015 Author Report Posted March 1, 2015 I owned a Grumman traveler, I just got a 1967 M20 E Mine needs paint too. I want to do this myself (but won't) Nice looking Mooney! Congratulations on your new mooney! My friend has a m20E with a lopresti cowl all the speed mods extended tanks, and a new factory motor. My plane is just about fast as his is . He has a little more room in his. My sight picture is a little better than his. We saw this the other day when we flown both planes. I figured they be the same but there not. Quote
DrBill Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 Bill -- you are going to have post more pictures of your interior! From that liner on the door, it looks like you fly a Pimpmobile. Is that crushed red velvet? yea I think the previous owner had a house of ill repute ! Here's another pic of the interior (could not find it, will get another) I made my baggage latch out of a 1x1 piece of Aluminum on a milling machine. I Was going out on errands so I took my camera.. Enroute I remembered, my plane is NOT in the hangar, it is at the avionics shop and I hope to get it tomorrow and test out the new ADS-B ! OK.. here's the pictures of my Pimpmobile interior ! Wesley brown Posted March 8, 2015 Author Report Posted March 8, 2015 Well we did our first cross country with the family this weekend and the plane did well! We flew exactly 200 NM in 1:33 min time at 7500' and use only 14.9 gallons. The plane was at full gross. We averaged 133 kts at a very low power setting 22/2300. The families report Pros: Well we got here fast That didn't cost much in fuel Nice landing babe Easy to get luggage in and out and get stuff loaded without entering the plane. Cons: Dad I'm getting sick this plane is to small take it back Radio static and noise in the intercom Hard to get in and out of. Tuesday it's getting the avionics dealt with and the transponder cert done. Overall I love the plane and find myself mesmerized at all the gadgets on the panel. It certainly keeps me busy compared to my easy to fly grumman. Quote
