furledd Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 If this has been discussed already, I apologize, i tried to do a search on it. Anyone found a good source and installation method for replacing the seal at the base of the vertical stabilizer? Mine looks awful and is probably 55 years old... I would think with a new piece you could slide it under and through and possibly install it - anyone given it a try before? Thanks, Dwight Quote
Steve65E-NC Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 I found a workable fillet at a local RV upfit/repair dealer. Quote
furledd Posted January 31, 2015 Author Report Posted January 31, 2015 Thanks for that piece of info This site looks promising under square U channel I will remove a small piece and measure it to see if something may match up - only problem is its in England - shipping may be high http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/shopping.asp?intDepartmentId=3 Quote
jetdriven Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 I got mine from LASAR. It's used on the tail horizontal root fairings. Gary McConnell knows about it. To install I nipped a corner off the inside edge and carefully slid the inside part under the rear edge of the verbal stab, then carefully inched it forward. When you get it where you want it, pliobond holds it from sliding 1 Quote
furledd Posted January 31, 2015 Author Report Posted January 31, 2015 Nice info so it can be installed with everything in place, great! You have a picture after it was installed? Does it look the same as what was there before? I will try giving LASAR a call on that, thanks! 1 Quote
