lsearcy Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I have been offered an opportunity to go to this year's Masters Tournament. Tickets in exchange for a ride. Not a bad deal if you ask me. However, I would appreciate insight from anyone who has flown into this mess. We are flying to Aiken S.C. I went to the website Augustainbound.com (a compilation of procedures for airports around the tournament), reserved my arrival time 2:06 p.m. and paid the $100.00 advance fee. My thought was to fly the first three hours and then sit down somewhere within an hour to accurately make my landing time. I apparently have a 15 minute window. All of this congestion make me a little nervous considering I traditionally fly out of a non-towered airport. Advice welcome. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 You definitely want to use flight following or if instrument rated, file IFR flight plan, that way ATC can help schedule you a slot. If IFR, brush up on your holding patterns, plan on getting there a bit early, with possibly of being put into a hold. Quote
lsearcy Posted March 19, 2014 Author Report Posted March 19, 2014 Yeah. Already planned to file IFR. Quote
Danb Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Really not a big deal and a nice little walk to Magnolia Lane, last time I went in there It was a thur. morning and just got vectors to final. (Daniel Field)..You could stop in Aiken KAIK, and chill out there, Walterboro is nice, depends what way your coming from, but I had no problems getting in or out, now since I'm not going this yr, jealously is setting in ..Have a great time..Poor Tiger's ailing...
