With the announcement from Dynon that the D10A was now STC'd I looked at it and got excited about getting rid of my AI and DG--the only two vacuum instruments in my panel. I am keeping the vacuum pump because it runs the AP and my "Buck Rodgers" retracting step. I figure if I lose it it's a no freak-out loss. My turn coordinator is electric and it drives the Brittain. What I like about the Dynon is the low price and compact in your face design, but it now comes to light that it does not replace a DG. So what gives? Doesn't it have heading in the arc at the top of the display? Does the issue have to do with the fact that if you lose that one unit you lose both heading and attitude at one time? Two Garmin D5's (AI & HSI) would solve the problem, but the Garmin Kool-Aid stand is a pricey stop.

The Sandel 3500 is a led which makes it 14/28 compatible... I haven't advertised the units yet, but I was planning on listing them for $ 2000.00 and $ 4000.00 if interested make me an offer... The 3308 is software version 2.30 The 3500 is software version 4.05 The 3500 is upgradable to GPSS steering for $1100.00... Both give you LPV vertical guidance and the ability to use GPSS steering...

It appears the Dynon D10A and D100 now have an STC for all Mooney M20s. http://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-communities-and-interests/pilot-resources/eaa-stc-low-cost-avionics
