  1. This video shows how the dual Garmin GI-275’s perform superbly in an RNAV approach into KFHB in low IFR conditions getting me down to minimums. The scan is easy and clear. Horizontal and vertical deviation indicators on both the ADI and HSI are clear and easy to fly with. The KFC 150 autopilot is driven perfectly by the top GI-275 (ADAHRS+AP). Just remember to put autopilot in APR mode once the Navigator (in my case a 530W) shows an approach mode such as LPV!!
  2. I recently had my HDG warning flag appear in my HSI (KCS-55A) and the compass card start to drift back and forth about plus/minus 5 degrees. Bendix King tells me it is time to have my gyro (KG-102A) overhauled. Does anyone have an avionics shop they recommend?
  3. A few years back I got very interested in the Sandel HSI's after reading about the 3308 capabilities. I liked the idea of having multiple navigation in puts into one display and having it linked t a magnetometer. But the newer Sandels were pretty expensive, especially after installation, the older 3308 needed a bulb change every year and the installation for it wouldn't be cheap. Once the electronic displays showed up a couple years ago I've been watching them and licking my chops. The L3 ESI 500 was in the lead because it both allowed magnetometer input and navigation input. Garmin's G5 didn't so it was out. Now Garmin fixed that so magnetic input and a single nav input from a Garmin-approved list can be used and it can be switched from the main mode (like souped up artificial horizon) to an HSI mode giving navigation and heading. They'll be hard to beat but I hope the other companies try. They had said we'd have to wait for the FAA approval but here it is. Could it be the FAA wised up and fast-tracked something that made so much sense? Too bad it only allows one nav input but other than that it's got everything I think I want.
  4. As removed in working condition EHSI with tray and extra new factory sealed bulb. Install manual and pilots guide provided. $1350
  5. Hi all- We're about to do a G5 HSI install, keeping an existing Attitude Indicator and the vacuum system that drives a century autopilot. I was looking at the vacuum setup and noticed that the vacuum suction gauge comes off a second AN port on the DG. The attitude indicator lacks a similar additional port. I'm gathering accouterments for this part of the installation. I'm thinking the most simple acceptable way to do this is to measure the suction from the line on the vacuum regulator by using a barb reducer hose adapter from 3/8 ID to 1/4 ID and then capping the second orifice on the instrument air filter. Before I have a discussion with my IA - this sound about right? Picture below to illustrate what I'm talking about. My SN seems to not be well illustrated in the parts catalog - otherwise I'd use that instead of a hand-drawn picture. But... whatever works. Thanks for the advice -Brad Edit: Brain fart removal.
  6. The Sandel 3500 is a led which makes it 14/28 compatible... I haven't advertised the units yet, but I was planning on listing them for $ 2000.00 and $ 4000.00 if interested make me an offer... The 3308 is software version 2.30 The 3500 is software version 4.05 The 3500 is upgradable to GPSS steering for $1100.00... Both give you LPV vertical guidance and the ability to use GPSS steering...
  7. I'm looking at a m20j 1986. It is a sandal 3308. Just wondering if anyone ha experience with this unit. Thoughts, experiences. Should I take it out. Remove it or augment it. Or will it work well for Ifr. It is synced to a Garmin. 430.
  8. SOLD... Sandel SN3500 EHSI Primary Nav Display w/ LED backlighting and GPSS steering software. I bought to upgrade my PA-28R avionics, but am going in a different direction. Software version 4.05 last updgraded by Sandel in March 2014. Includes new tray and new connectors. Listed for $5000. Also have: Mid-Continent Directional Gyro - $500 Humphreys Magnetic Flux Detector (Compass) -$230 RARE Century 1C388-2 Autopilot Nav Coupler (this is required for the Autocontrol autopilot to accept GPS roll steer commands) - $1500 See my auctions if you want to bid or make an offer for the package via PM. Would prefer to sell as a package.http://www.ebay.com/itm/262092921458?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p39 84.m1555.l2649
  9. Does anyone have a picture of their panel with a B/K HSI mounted in it. I was also curious if there is going to be space issues with the AI just above it? Thanks, Don
