  1. Guys - Who's coordinating this years BBQ at Osh? I'm assuming someone's needing us to RSVP.
  2. Actually, that's who the prior owner used as well when he and mag work performed. Sounds like there's several good options out there.
  3. Just heard from Mike Busch and he sends his clients to Aircraft Magneto Service at Bainbridge Island, WA http://aircraftmagnetoservice.net/ Anyone have experience with this shop? Also, it looks like the going rate for a Bendix mag IRAN is $300 at most shops unless they find something major.
  4. Excellent... I live in the Dallas area so it would be an easy drive over to Aaron's shop.
  5. My mag's are coming up on their 500 hour inspection point. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good magneto shop?
  6. Will do... I was doing some stop and goes before climbing out where I experienced the roughness. I plan on checking the plugs as well. I might have a fouled plug as well.
  7. The prior owner of my plane installed one. It looks like he took the panel off the baggage door and attached a cable to the latch. Then poked a hole through the door cover. He then attached a ring to the small cable. It's a pretty simple mod.
  8. No monitor but EGT on #3 is slightly elevated until the engine is leaned out. No injectors on this engine.
  9. While out flying today I detected a vibration when the manifold pressure was at 25" or higher. When I backed it dow to 24" or lower the vibration went away. Changes in RPM seems to not have any effect. Also tried playing with the mixture and carb heat with no change... Thoughts?
  10. I'm in need of a good avionics shop. Does anyone have recommendations for a good shop in Dallas/Fort Worth area?
  11. My roof vent opens just fine but just no flow. It sounds like I just need to dig into it and see what's going on.
  12. Sure... It's a PDF. PM me your email address.
  13. I pulled the Cabin Overhead Ventiliation System drawings from the parts manual and at the speeds these planes fly, why we don't have more air than we know what do with flowing through those vents. It might be that the valves over the deflectors might not be fully open. Something's not right... At least I hope it's not working as designed and not a design flaw.
  14. Wonderful... Too damn hot now to rebuild it when I need it and when it's cool in the fall I don't need it anymore... Looks like another long summer of a complaining spouse!
  15. How much air flow do you guys get with the overhead vent? Mine has almost no flow to it?
  16. I've always thought that doing owner assisted annuals was the way to go until I went through a pre-buy of my latest plane that just went through an owner assisted annual prior to the pre-buy inspection. Even though my plane had a fresh annual I stilled wanted Don Maxwell to look it over. Don created a squawk list that would chock a horse with over $6k of airworthy items with most being items the A&I should of caught. Luckly the sales agreement had the owner covering those items and I ended up with a great plane. I'm not sure what happen in my case if the A&I doesn't know Mooney's or what but this now has me leaning to using MSC's for my annuals or at least every other one. For the one's I'm not using MSC's for the annual, having an A&I that's really good and will watch me like a hawk.
  17. Thanks for the posts... I thought that might be the issue. Don Maxwell worked on the compass a month ago so I need to check with him to see what it did. If he demagnetized the plane, it might be a wiring issue.
  18. I noticed Saturday while heading east on a taxi way that the compass indicated north. Talking it over with my A&P he thought that maybe it's because the center post is magnetized and I should relocate it. Is this something that's common on Mooney's or do I have a cheap compass and should just get it replaced?
  19. On my last trip I notice that my the alt hold on my STEC-50 started having issues holding altitude. It seemed to constantly hunt for the altitude going +/- 50 feet. Any thoughts on what might be going on?
  20. Actually, that sounds like a good idea to keep a seperate fuel/Oil log. Right now I note VOR checks/Oil and fuel in the notes on my flight log.
  21. Guys - Just curious if everyone logs oil additions and topoffs and if so, what log book do you use? Right now I make a note in the flight logbook but started thinking maybe I should log these additions in the engine log book where the oil changes go. What's everyone else doing?
  22. There's also a 16" Fuelhawk. Here's a like to it: http://www.pilotshop.com/fuelhawk-universal-p-3694.html
  23. Excellent... Thanks!
  24. I was under the impression that SB M20-229 didn't apply to O&N Fuel caps since they're a different design. Does anyone if that's the case?
  25. Does anyone have the classic logo?
