  1. Quote: Chessieretriever Hallo Folks, A couple of weeks ago we travelled from Houma, LA to Mount Pocono, PA direct with our little Ranger. We filed and got 17,000ft (Rajay Turbo) and were doing great until the temperatures dropped to the point of freezing the two of flying. The heater could not keep up with the heat loss to ~10F OAT. We had to decend to 11,000ft to continue due to human temperature limitations (see http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N92AV/history/20111209/1601Z/KHUM/KMPO). Does anyone make a more powerfull heater for this bird? I find the efficiency/speed combination of our little backup plane unbeatable even compared to our Rocket. Please advise if you know of something that allows us to fly N92AV more in the colder months of the year. Cheers/O N92AV and N9154W

  3. Quote: jasonwojo Hello, I have a 1979 M20K "305" Rocket conversion (310 HP) and a 1991 M20M "351" Liquid Rocket conversion (350 HP derated to 335 HP). I have owned stock Mooneys before and loved them, but the Rockets are even more superb products! Rocket Engineering is a great company with excellent support. Fly one and you will be hooked! They are not advertised, but I have told some other guys I would be willing to sell one of them. Pictures are on this site in the "photo galleries" section under "jasonwojo". The K has a new Garmin stack (with 530 and WAAS 430), HSI, and long range fuel. The M has TKS, EFIS, and a brand new factory engine (100 hrs). Both have low times and are well equiped. Oh yeah, and they are FAST! I am asking $150K and $185K respectively. Let me know if you have any questions. Jason (316) 708-0713 cell
  4. Quote: Capt_CrashN_Burn Is there a reason that the 350hp version of the TSIO-550 has never been used in the Acclaim type S?? Mooney could then brag about building a plane that does 260+ KTS. The highest HP Mooney that I've heard of is the 351 Rocket conversion that has 335 HP, I hear they do about 250 kts, but they suffer from the extra weight of a liquid cooling system. Anyone have any guesses??
