TIO-540-AF1B Reman, Rebuild, or Factory New?
AndyFromCB replied to WorldWiseTrade's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
The factory overhaul on TIO540AF1B is a giant rip off, especially if your cylinders are in decent shape. This is a parallel valve engine, about as simple as it gets. The cylinders tend to stay in good shape due to oil cooling. This is a $36K overhaul to new limits with overhauled turbo, controller and waste gate included with new valves, pistons and rings and overhauled mags as well as new camshaft. What does Lycoming want? $58K and a useless warranty. I had Central Cylinder do mine and 300 hours later the engine is running just fine. My cylinders looked brand new when we yanked them off, but I decided on new valves, springs and pistons anyway. Find a small reputable repair station like Central Cylinder that charges based on labor and parts involved not on what Lycoming's list price is. -
What is your obsession with the husband and wife group? The rates in majority of these groups were high and were subject to major increases had they actually used the coverage and were subject to non-renewal. There is absolutely no difference between Gold plan and what majority of these people had under their "group" coverage. Zero. And nobody has to buy them via the "exchange". Your existing benefit broker can sell you the same plan. The deductibles are about the same $2000 and $4000. Much to do about nothing. Typical whinning from upper middle classes about how terrible their lives have become. Nothing is going to happen to ACA. Dream on, Sunshine. I looked at the electoral maps. Next Democratic presidential nominee would have to abort a fetus on live TV and eat it in order to lose. There will not be a Republican president for years to come when the young ones come out to vote like they do in each presidential election unless the Republican party quits being the party of Jesus. Younger generation does not buy into the family values bullshit and tax cuts don't do anything for them since they make no money. January being over, I fully intend to hop off the wagon tonight. Point proven. I can quit drinking anytime I want to. I noticed Indiana's conservative government saw the light and signed up for Medicaid. It's just a matter of time before TX gets on board as hospitals are stuck with more and more uncovered bills and start bitching to their local legislators. And then the rest of backwater states will follow. And then it's over, they are forever attached to that tit.

My ass is worked for 92% of us. It worked for anyone healthy. It stopped working for most within 12 months of getting any sort of a disease that forced unemployment for them. And why are we extrapolating the healthy and the young? Are they somehow immune to DNA damage or car accidents? You all live in a dream reality because you've yet to deal with a major illness in your life. Step 1: get everyone insured under uniform plans Step 2: deal with rising costs once all insurance is uniform Can't do 2, without first doing 1 a.k.a. power grab

I call bullshit. Does not work like that, otherwise there would be no need for parents. It's not all nature. Amazing things happen when you present people with alternatives. You would be amazed how many kids don't know there is another way. Male brains do not truly mature until early 30's. The armies of all over the world know this, hence they don't try to mold 30 year olds. Yes, there are sociopaths and psychopaths for whom nothing can be done. Guess what? With a proper plan we'd have more space to keep them locked up forever.

You confuse a lot of things John. Are you just being a prick on purpose? How do you even call yourself a Catholic? What happened to turn the other cheek? There are felons and then there are FELONS. Training people in prison to be productive members of society is all about protecting the public. And what's wrong with civil rights restoration after a certain period of time, yes, including the rights to own weapons. Do you really want a permanent underclass? I think if a human being proves and improves him/her self, we owe to them a second chance and shot at a decent life. We sure as do a great job at throwing away the key. With attitudes like yours, we will never save a single penny and our taxes and debt will just continue to go up. The far right attitude towards human beings makes me ill. Seriously, you make me ill. I love how a guy who openly admits to doing 120mph on a public highway in an S2000 then has the balls to claim a teenager who does the same but does not get away with it and causes a wreck, should suffer for the rest of their life. People can change. Bet you committed quite a few felonies in your youth. You just never got caught.

I disagree a bit. Puts you at a continual disadvantage through out your life. Certain things are a lot easier to learn at a young age and if you don't learn them, prison is where you are headed. It's nature and nurture. This is why I am a big proponent of prison education and major time off for those willing to better themselves while inside (obviously first strike only). It's cost effective, good for the people inside and good for the society as a whole. But our punitive mindset prevents us from doing anything about. There seems to be a major mind block to spend an extra $3K a year in vocational training in prison for 4 years in order to save millions down the road. No early release for just good time. Early release for proving yourself to want to rejoin productive society by earning a degree. The cycle can be broken and can actually save us cash, major cash.

No, not in the market. I was bored, I was at Menards to pick up some electrical boxes for a project this weekend and there is a Ford dealer next door and the salesmen looked not very busy so I asked for a drive. Have some other plans for my money over next few years other than cars. Really want an airpark house. Hellcat looks like a rather cretinous car from my perspective. The only reason why I wanted to test drive a Mustang was to feel the new suspension. It works. It really does.

That's only 12K a year. Are you really telling me that it's unreasonable to expect to spend that much on healthcare between age 65 and age 85? 1 grand a month on average? I'm 35 and I already spend half that much at the dentist each year. I assume it's not going to get any cheaper as I get older to keep my pearly whites (more a shade of yellow, I have a coffee habit). Aren't the premiums alone close to $300 a month between B, C and D coverage? There is $72K. You might be deceiving yourself on what it's going to cost you to remain in a tip top bird shooting shape but I agree that $240K might be an excessive number, however, the number is still fairly high.

Yeah, but what I like about the Mustang GT is the $35K sticker. I'm sure the GT350 will an amazing car, but one you push into $50s, there are more choices. We do need intellect in the white house. We need it badly. Have not had any in there since Clinton, before then it was Bush, before then Nixon, you have to go all the way back to Eisenhower, then FDR. Yes, I exclude Obama, Bush Jr, Reagan, Carter, JFK, Truman from the type of intellect I am talking about. We've had it from both sides of the isle. We've had two administrations in the row that can barely manage now. If you want someone to untangle the web, without a total complete chaos ensuing, someone of Sarah intellect and pettiness is not the answer. To quote Nixon talking about Ike, that's what we need: "He was a far more complex and devious man than most people realized, and in the best sense of those words." If you want to get anything done or undone, you need to be able to disarm/convince/bribe the other side. The system is set up in such a way, that even with majority in power in all congress and white house, it's impossible to get anything done or undone without at least a super majority behind it. I want someone cunning, crafty and sly.

It's not what she said, it's how she said it. It's one thing to have ideas, it's another to be able to implement coherently. Maybe it's the elitist in me speaking but I've read up on her governorship in Alaska and she managed to piss everyone off, left, right and center and left a giant mess while focusing on petty little personal revenge. Everyone has ideas but execution is the key and she simply lacks the intellect to implement anything she stands for. As much as I dislike Mit's politics, he is a fine example of an executive. BTW, back to cars for a little bit. I test drove a new Mustang GT yesterday and I am absolutely in love. What an amazing American car. It handles beautifully without losing that muscle car feel.

So guess what? Someone is going to have to pay for their retirement. It will be you and me. Them death panels are sounding more and more appealing, aren't they? Whichever party comes out and promotes "death with dignity" for those unable to fund their retirement, has my vote. Soylent Green...I think we should put them all out to ice before global warming takes away the opportunity.

Everyday I wake up, I have a little smile on face, knowing that Sarah Palin is not one heartbeat from being president...Where you see bad policy, like middle east, I see someone as cynical as me, doing for the first time, what needed to be done and having no qualms what so ever about it: which is letting it all implode so that new order can rise from the ashes. Like you said before, it's not a stupid policy, or a series of haphazard mistakes. It's purposeful. Have you seen Sarah's latest speech in Iowa. She appears to be on meth...Very fitting, being Iowa, I guess...That woman is essentially a random sentence generator with a vocabulary of 100 buzz words...It's my wet dream your "consistent primary voters" elect someone like her to run for president. Fair warning, you will never get the 35 minutes back. Enjoy:

Well, the if you truly believe that we have a two part system and there is functional difference between D and R, who's the dumb one? At least, we "liberals", get what we want...No wonder the conservatives are always so grumpy...I'd be too, at least the Democrats provide a steady flow of vaseline...

Applying your western thinking to third world shitholes like Afghanistan is how we got where we are in the first place. It's a tribal society without allegiances to a country. They don't even have a concept of a country. The border between Pakistan and Afganistan does not exist in the same sense you think border. We could spend another 10 years down, 10 trillion and somebody somewhere will remember their great, great, great uncle got spit on 100 years ago by somebody named Ahmed and it will start all over again.

Well, The Taliban are not terrorist. They are simply another political party in Afghanistan. Kind of like Republicans vs Democrats here in US of A. They just have a different way of voting down there. With an AK47. Not everyone who shots at us is a terrorist. Taliban are not the Al Quada. So technically speaking, the press secretary was correct.

Dave, Scott, John, Where were you all when Bush was leading us into war under false pretenses and spending us into oblivion. Or did you not care because it was your guy? I am actually quite pleased with everything he has done so far other than execution of the ACA. Total cluster fuck. I am extremely pleased with his middle east policy. It's working exactly as intended. It just so happens you gentlemen do not like the outcome.

I'm sorry, but at that level of politics, they are all backstabbing, conniving felons no matter whether it's R or D in the white house. How many times did saint Ronnie say "I don't recall". You think the cold war ended and got cleaned up without some major shady dealings done by James Baker. Extremely bright individual, extremely shady. It's amazing what comes out years later after things get declassified. Ever read National Security Report 68? It's now declassified. Guess what? We, not the Ruskies, started the cold war. It was in "our interests". Bet you they still don't teach that in public school history classes. Was there some major ulterior motives behind starting he Iraqi war. You bet ya. If you live long enough, you'll find out. By then, it won't make a bit of a difference. It will be studied by academics and children will be taught that Saint Bush saved the world from WMDs. Like I said, I don't vote. The presidents do what the presidents have to do. And if you still buy that the Ruskies were ever a threat, I have a bridge to sell you. I lived under the Warsaw pact. My Dad was a tank commander officer during his two years of "volunteer service". If 1 in 10 tanks worked at anytime, it was a miracle. Russia was a cluster fuck of an internal mess and without US aid it received during WWII, it was a paper tiger. Still is.

I think $30 million net worth is what now is considered the entry point to the exclusive club of wealthy. Anyways, with that attitude you're never join it. I have never met a wealthy person who did not think they were "exceptional" As they say, money is just a way of keeping score. Anyways, cheers. One of the greatest joys in life is being happy with what you have.
