  1. I say ROP is better..........just sayin
  2. Quote: Skywarrior Wow. I really have no words...
  3. Quote: fantom Reasonable people who don't flip-flop, and respect each others times, can profit each other. A good broker can save you time, knows how to get deals done, may get you a better plane or a better price, and both parties can walk away happy. Given a wise guy, penny anti, potential buyer or an unscrupulous broker, then it could be a disaster. A decent broker most assuredly realizes the best interests of his client are in his best interests. I wonder if the average potential buyer has the "best interests" of the broker in mind. Business 101.
  4. I guess there should be some Herman Cain supporters here......just sayin'
  5. Check out Controller.com or Tradeaplane.com, there are bunches of them listed.
  6. I used to own N6817V, a 71 F model with the M20 turbo. It also had all of the 201 mods, so it was a badass quick F model. I never had any problems with it, but the previous owner that actually had it installed did spend a lot of time tweeking it. I never took it above 12,500' but it was certainly a "nice to have".
  7. Quote: jetdriven So does the guy on downwind or the guy on a 4 mile final have the right of way? or a better question, who has right of way of someone is on the 45 and someone is making a crosswind entry? Whoever has the Mooney!
  8. Quote: Shadrach Greg, While I do have a nice pair , I think you're somewhat overstating the matter... No one that I know of jumps in their plane without sumping the tanks for a 4.5hr Xcountry. Furthermore, no one I know of runs on one tank until it is dry without switching at least once. When I fly long XCs, I typically switch tanks several times befor a tank is run to exhaustion. There are so many other real concerns when flying small airplanes that randomely occuring inflight contamination or sudden blockage of an unopened tank, that I've already used twice in the last 2 hrs, is not near the bottom of the list...it is the bottom of the list. The fuel system in a Mooney is just not as fragile as some are making it out to be, and I think that the stats reflect that reality. Now back to our regularly scheduled "run a tank dry and die" narative...
  9. I don't know, but I think you guys deliberately running a tank dry have some enormous balls....not sure how you even fit them into a Mooney! Once that tank is dry, you have absolutely no backup plan if something happens with the other tank of fuel, such as a clogged line or contaminated fuel, etc. Whatever happened to having "reserves"?
  10. I can vouch for Phil Jimenez also.....has worked on my Mooneys for at least 10 years. The guy mentioned at F45 is extremely expensive....in my opinion.
  11. Parker is correct.....Cruiser said it best. I have landed in 35+ kt crosswinds and you have to fly the airplane all the way to the ground. Partial flaps and "whatever it takes" to land with no side load and on centerline. The term "stick and rudder" comes to mind.
  12. Cat Cay, Bahamas in a 68 C model. Landing not an issue....taking off required every inch of runway plus staying in ground effect over open water and a change of underwear. 1100' according to my Bahamas guide. That was my "never again" moment....now I know what those numbers in the POH are for.
  13. Quote: Parker_Woodruff Budget? Any mods or equipment you'd like for it to come equipped with?
  14. Quote: N223MM I have a great 201 with NDH, 1994 MSE instrumentation, Aspen, Garmin, and JPI 700 upgrades. Also has Boase lemo plugs if one needs those. The wing leading edges could stand some paint touch-up. However, I like it more than the current market does so the price would not reflect reality. Have you teken a look at the MSE in this very forum? Check here: http://mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&forumid=7&threadid=3303
  15. I am in the market for a well cared for early 201. Preferably one with NDH.
  16. I did the Gleim books. Memorization worked best for me. I would recommend taking the written shortly before taking your check ride. The oral portion was much harder than the actual check ride. My opinion only!
