  1. last nite wifey and i flew to pittsburg, ks to have dinner at "chicken mary's"(of "food network" fame). when we were ready to depart rnwy 32 into the very cold, very black skys, i noticed that my oil pressure guage was in the high yellow zone and when i ran up the engine it moved to the red. after pondering this, i toggled the landing light switch off, and the guage returned to normal...on again and it read high. i think that the oil pump is mechanical...am i right? is this aberant reading with the light on a problem? thanks for any advice. p.s. this is a wonderfully friendly and accomodating fbo and is a fun little stop for food and fuel if you're in the area. pittsburg is also the home of "anywhere map" products.
  2. congratulations on your new bird! i had ten hours of dual when i bought my m20j. my mooney expert instructor told me you ALWAYS land these planes with full flaps. 'taint neccesarily so! i've got about 1400 hours in 201by now....and 70 kts with partial flaps work great for me in most situations. btw, i used to visit boca frequently...beautiful landing scenery!

  5. Quote: Mcstealth Hello and welcome. Hope you found Santa Fe enjoyable. Was your engine blowing the oil down the belly before the addition? thank you...
  6. Quote: mooneyman I tried calling Mozleys at 913-782-4468 but I get a message that the number is disconnected. That is the only number I can find for them. Do you have a current number?
  7. just a note to say how much i enjoy this forum that i just discovered! i bought my '78 201 in 1995 and have flown it about 1500 hrs. over those years. on a recent summer trip from santa fe, nm to our home base in olathe, ks we trued about 155kts. at 11,500' and covered about 590 nm in 3 hrs. 50 min. on 36 gallons of avgas...not many planes other than the 201 could have done that! i just overhauled the engine at about 2250 hrs. it was running fine, but.......... one nice addition at o/h was an m20 air oil separator. it's really nice to be able to run a full 8 qts. of oil. ours is a 252 paint scheme(white/burg/gold) with round windows and an ovation pattern leather interior.
