  3. Thanks everyone! Will entertain reasonable offers -- don't be shy. I'm stepping up soon and can't justify two planes.
  4. Family out grew it, sadly. Would love to keep, but can't justify 2 planes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. PIREP after repair: I have flown couple times since the repair -- all seems to work as expected. The first power-on required extra time for the 430 to "find itself", but after that, no warning message or issues that I see so far. Thankfully everything worked out great. -Dave
  7. Just wanted to report back incase anyone finds this thread later. We sent the fuel selector out to LASAR, they overhauled and after 4 hours of flight time, all is working perfectly. No more leaks Thanks everyone for all the input. Dave
  8. Its at a local shop. They could replace the battery without having to send to Garmin. I'll provide a PIREP once they've completed the work.
  9. Anyone going? http://www.socialflight.com/events/11th-annual-rio-colorado-flying-poker-run.html
  10. I’m a owner-pilot that loves to fly for just about any reason. Flying is a hobby and not work, so I get to enjoy it. As a pilot, I feel the need to have a “mission” because of the financial nature of aviation. Therefore, I find it difficult sometimes to find new places/destinations worth flying too alone. As a software developer by trade, I’m constantly thinking about ways to apply my professional skillset to aviation. One idea I keep circling around lately is the, “virtual poker run”. With mobile applications and connectivity pretty widely available today, it's very possible to create software that could allow an individual to “checkin” to a specific geo-location. This makes it possible to organize and participate in a “virtual poker run” with my fellow pilot friends. Before I set out to create such a product, I'd love to get feedback from other pilots and aircraft owner-pilots. While I suspect I’m not the only one thinking this way, sure would be nice to know others would possibly use and enjoy such a product. There are endless possibilities in my mind with an application like this, and many reasons it would benefit the aviation community and GA pilots. If you wouldn’t mind responding with your thoughts, I’d love to hear them positive or negative. Cheers! Dave
  11. Thanks for the lead -- if the local connection doesn't work out, this might be nice alternative to Garmin directly. -Dave
  12. Thanks Sherman, I've got a call into local shop, if that doesn't pan out Garmin is next on the list. -Dave
  13. So I just noticed a "low battery" message on my 430 on the last flight. Searching around, seems Garmin won't work on anything non-WAAS now. Having them replace would require an upgrade to WAAS, seems like its an expensive route to change a damn battery. There seems to be some brave soles that DIY it. While I'm pretty good at soldering, I'd hate to accidentally turn my unit into a giant paper weight. I saw few reports of local radio shops replacing the battery, but no one mentions the actual shop. Anyone go thought this already or have any recommendations? I suspect my 430W is about to experience the same thing, so might consider replacing both at the same time... Thanks, Dave
  14. Really like that perspective. When I get a gopro, that will be the location to mount it. Nice vid!
