  1. AeroComfort did mine. See the pics I have posted. Hector and his shop did an outstanding job. Plus, as others have posted, you do not have to bring the a/c to KSAT. He works with other shop around the country and will send what you want to them for installation. He is not cheap. But you get exactly what you pay for. Rick
  2. Thanks for the great feedback. Lean towards Crystal since Hector (Aero Comfort) will do the removal and reinstall of interior panels (for a fee...which is fine). Prices do vary. Johnny at Conroe is impressive. Thanks again. Rick
  3. Has anybody had any experience with either of thiese Avionics Unlimited, inc - Conroe, TX Crystal Avionics, LLC - New Braunfels, TX I'd appreciate it. Adding the Aspen MFD 1000 to the panel. Rick
  4. Might be too late to do you any good. I agree that GY FC III are a great choice. use the Michelin Air Stop tubes. Great combination. i would never buy Michelin tires again. Did that once and they did not wear good at all. Rick
  5. There is a shop in Flora, IL. Midwest Mooney. They did the gear refurb on my J and did an outstanding job (see my pics :-) ) Rick
  6. Call Davis Field Aviation located at MKO in Oklahoma. They have treated me right and never a squak. http://www.davisfieldaviation.com/ Ask for Nate. Rick
  7. Thanks everybody for your input. Yes...I've checked into the subscription costs and with the Garmin, I'll be pushing a grand a year total. I've considered putting the Garmin on Ebay (actually suggested by the avionics shop) but don't want the hassle. Yes...like the fact that I would now have a backup to the PFD. Hate the fact that I'll probably be more upside down in a great airplane in view of the current market....but, you can't take it with you ;-) Thanks again. Rick
  8. Has anybody got positive or negative things to say about Aspen's MFD? I've got a nice panel and really thought I was done. Guess not. Contemplated swapping out the 530WAAS for the big GTN but the shop that did all my work, will not allow any money for it as a trade in. So.....keep the 530 and get the Aspen MFD.
  9. I considered powdercoating mine until I visited Aero Comfort. They had a set of yokes on the counter that probably have been handled by 100s. They were no worse for the wear and they felt awesome. It was an easy decision at that point. Hector and Juan Pablo turn out an outstanding product. Rick
  10. Hot weather...hot hanger...plane hasn't flown today. Bump throttle to a position that will give you 1000 - 1500 rpm. Position mixture off the stop, somewhere you'd have it while taxing. Finger on the boost pump. Start cranking. Soon as a few blades go by, turn on the boost pump and watch the fuel pressure gauge. As soon as you have pressure....let go of the boost pump, continue to crank. Engine starts every time. Cold or hot weather...engine recently shutdown. Touch nothing. Hand on the mixture. Crank engine. As soon as the engine cough's/sputter's/attempts to start.....move mixture up...move throttle up. Just part way. Engine starts every time. 77 M20J - 1 flooded start in two years... Hope this helps. Rick

    Gear

I had the gear refurb done at Midwest Mooney last year.
  12. From the album: Gear

  13. You can see my pics of the gear on my 77 model 201. I had this done last year by Midwest Mooney in Flora. They had the airplane for 3 weeks. Except for a small amount of overspray on the tail (don't know how that happened) it was an exceptional job. Not only the gear was done but any and all broken/cracked pieces were replaced. The gearwells were stripped and alodine etched, primed and repainted. Rick
  14. E-Ghad!! That is just wrong to do on anything....except for a ride at the carny. Rick
  15. Only the seats are leather. Everything else is either painted or wrapped in ultra-leather (vinyl). I did not get an updated weight-n-balance as part of the deal. You'd have to ask Hector why that is not part of it. Having said that, I can tell you that the amount of paperwork you get with the deal is unreal. Everything they put in goes through a burn test. Material maker, type, color, etc is included in it all. One other thing I just remembered. Leather is too heavy to wrap the plastic in. It would eventually sag. Rick
  16. I never really picked a package. Just met with Hector and said I want this, this and this.....how much? I can't think of anything they offer that I did not get. They did not say "it's $$$ for this leather and $$$$$ for this leather". My wife and I flew over for the second meeting, took 30 mins to select the colors.....done. Hector takes very good notes so that the job is done to the spec you are looking for. Rick
  17. Gary...pics look great! Aero-Comfort will be in business a very long time. The quality of the product, the service, attention to detail. They go out of their way to make sure what they put out the door is second to none. Best money I've spent on an airplane. Rick
