  1. That's an interesting strategy, the plane doesn't sell so they raise the price.
  2. my Dad and I are in a hotel in topeka tonight. We spent 6 hours today flying here from sedona az dodging thunderstorms the whole way. We're going to fly up to madison in the morning and see what the weather is looking like in osh. We're hoping to get into wittman but if it's still closed we'll probably go to Fond du Lac.

  4. That looks great!
  5. Dave, I know we don't have the same engine but I thought I'd throw out that my engine usually starts with quite a bang as well. The one other Mooney I've ever been in also started in a similar way.
  6. Quote: DaV8or You know, I've never named a vehicle before, but I'll have to give it some thought. Thanks again to you, Mitch, Quinn and the other Ambassadors for showing me your planes and answering my questions back at the Minter fly in. Seems like everybody with a Mooney is just so damn helpful!
  7. Congratulations Dave! I'm glad you're enjoying the new plane!
  8. My plane has no factory installed visors and most of the aftermarket visors I've seen seem to rely on the factory visor attach points. I think I'll call lasar and see what they have to say, thanks for the tip.
  9. Does anyone know of any sun visors available for a '65 C? I checked on Rosen's website and they only offer them for '68 models and later.
  10. Quote: DaV8or Thanks. Also, thanks to you, I will be using your instructor, Richard, for my checkout next Wednesday! Maybe I'll see you at the airport.
  11. Congratulations Dave! It truly looks like a beautiful plane!
  12. Congratulations on the purchase! I look forward to meeting you at Mooney events!
  13. Non-precision/precision approaches refer to vertical guidance not the accuracy of the lateral guidance. If your gps has WAAS you're shooting precision approaches when you do an LPV approach, otherwise it's a non-precision approach since it doesn't provide vertical guidance.
  14. I personally have found inertia reel belts more annoying than helpful. I found that the lock on them was super sensitive and it would sometimes lock up when I was trying to just move around. The ones I was using (this was in a c-172) also wouldn't always unlock unless you took them off and fully retracted them. I have the fixed belts in my plane and like Scott I only have to release them when switching tanks. I also feel more secure being able to cinch the belt down rather than having to rely on the belt catching me.
  15. Not if you use a big enough "persuader"
  16. Welcome to Mooney Space! Good luck with your purchase.
  17. Good luck. It looks like a very nice plane!
  18. I agree with Mitch. I really love that Mooneys really haven't changed much since the first M20, and they're still some of the fastest planes on the market. Very cool.
  19. Sure, you can absolutely borrow our 695. I'll give you a call sometime soon to discuss it. Thanks, I really appreciate it.
  20. I'm going to be flying to OSH and I don't currently have weather in my cockpit so I'm looking to borrow an XM weather capable handheld for the trip. I'm willing to pay two months of the weather subscription and I can loan my 695 as well. Thanks in advance!
  21. Wow, that looks simply stunning. You must be very pleased.
  22. Good luck with the pre-buy! If you want to go for a flight when you're in Santa Barbara let me know, I'm always looking for an excuse to go up. If you want any more pictures of the plane or anything, it's tied down like 20 feet away from where I keep mine.
  23. I'm 6ft 0in and 200 lbs and I fit just fine in my C model. If you're anywhere in Southern California I'd love to take you for a ride!
  24. I know that plane! It's tied down at Atlantic in Santa Barbara. As far as mechanics go Stratman Aviation on the field is pretty good. I'm not sure how much Mooney experience he has but he's been very helpful the couple of times I've brought my plane in for minor stuff. You could also talk to Ray's Aviation in Santa Paula, he has some Mooney experience and he's pretty close to Santa Barbara.
  25. Quote: jrjaks Just be aware that if something goes wrong with the display in that GX-50, it can't be fixed. I had a GX-60 in my panel, and the display began going haywire. I called the division of Garmin that handles the old Apollo units and they said they can't repair them at all. Fortunately, there were about $2,500 in rebates being offered at the time by Garmin for exchanging a GX-60 for a GNS-430W, so I went ahead and did it, (last October or so). I had no plans to spend that money, (which I didn't have!), but I have to admit, I enjoy the 430 and WAAS.
