  1. Hey Chris, First, thanks so much for your service to our country!!! I live just north of Atlanta (Cumming, GA) and I'm flying almost every weekend to Perry, GA (just south of Macon) for my IFR training. My Mooney is an E model, but the only difference is 10" of rear seat leg room. Let me know when you're back in the States and we can schedule a time to fly together. Best regards, Jeff
  2. Congratulations Jonathon!!! I just finished reading your trip report and it was excellent!!! As a fellow 66 E model owner, it made me feel proud. Congrats again on an incredible journey. Best regards, Jeff Bridges
  3. Congrats Alan!!! I had my first Mooney solo back in November of 2009, so I know well how you are feeling!!! Fly the wings off of it!!!

  5. Looks very nice!!!
  6. Congrats!!! She is very cute!!! I know that you are so proud!!!
  7. Thanks!!! That's exactly what I was looking for!!! Thanks again, Jeff
  8. Does anyone have the specs (impedance range) of the rheostats used to control the panel lights and post lights on early E's? The part numbers are listed below, but I've been unable to find any specification info on the web. Panel Lights 919006-001 Post Lights 919006-501 Thanks in advance!!! Jeff
  9. I purchased a battery desulfator and am very glad to use it. However, it takes a few minutes to pull the battery access panel in order to connect the desulfator after a flight. Also, the same extra time is required prior to coming out of the hangar. My question... There is a solenoid in between the APU port and the battery. Is there any way to connect the desulfator without removing the battery access panel? I'm looking for a way to bypass the solenoid without having to remove the battery access panel each time. Has anyone found a way to do this? Thanks in advance, Jeff
  10. I'll be bringing my plane home for the first time!!! I just finished my insurance minimums last week. My airplane stayed behind to get a few tweaks before coming to her new home. I'll be flying from middle GA to north GA. Only 100 NMs, but I'm wondering if anyone else will enjoy flying as much as I will on Saturday!!!
  11. Just wanted to let everyone know that I ordered the Goodyear Flight Custom III's today. I really appreciate everyone's input. Thanks! Jeff
  12. Thanks for all of the replies!!! Jeff
  13. Thanks for the info and link, George!!!
  14. I've searched through the forums but cannot find much info on what brands of tires work better on the vintage Mooneys. I thought that other new Mooney owners (like me) might also be interested in this topic. I am close to needing to replace my tires and would like to make an informed choice rather than just throwing darts... Could you post your experiences with the current tires on your vintage Mooney? Would you buy the same brand again? Also, I see that there are tube-type and tubeless tires. Any preference? Pros/cons of both types? Thanks in advance, Jeff
  15. Update on my Throttle Lock. My mechanic called and said there was a bushing in the lock assembly that he was able to remove and re-install in the opposite direction. He said that it is now holding the throttle in place. I'll give it a try like this and see how long it lasts.
  16. I searched around before asking and could only find a thread that referenced the vernier prop and mixture controls. Has anyone had their throttle friction lock wear out? When my throttle lock is completely tightened, I can still slide the throttle in and out easily. The biggest problem with this is that the vibrations cause it to slowly back out in flight. I am having to keep one hand on the throttle to keep it from moving. It seems to me that the nylon compression ring has just worn out over time. Anyone know if this can be replaced or if a new throttle cable assembly is the only option? Thanks in advance.
  17. Just had my 3-blade Hartzell overhauled in October, 2009. No blades had to be replaced. Cost was $2,500.00. Hope this helps.
  18. My M20E is a 1966 model with its serial number being 912. It was built in late 1965, but it is a 1966 model. When I checked the FAA registration, it shows as a 1965. Go figure... Jeff
