  1. Finally got my wings on and tail this week! Woohoo! Starting to look like a mooney now!
  2. what constitutes a requirement for just a crank dial in and accessory case inspection and bolt replacement versus splitting the case and having the crankshaft, camshift etc NDT'd ??? Im curious as I will be going through this myself, my engine had a prop strike from a gear up as the engine was at low idle??
  3. Quote: Immelman Better yet -- learn in a taildragger. It will put you way ahead in terms of mastering takeoffs and landings than learning in a typical cessna or piper trainer. If I had more money I'd have my mooney and a citabria or decathlon right along side it. I really enjoy my airplane but do miss flying those...
  4. I just spoke with Dan at Lasar last week regarding my 77 201 gear motor overhaul and service, my motor brushes are done and the armature needs turning so he told me it would be at most 850 dollars to overhaul including replacing the rubber coupling between the transmission and motor. I thought that was a good price, and will be sending mine there shortly.
  5. Does anyone on here have any experience installing a fixed step on their 201's or other models, I have a 77 J and don't know if all the inside brackets etc are there from the factory as this was a factory option on the 201, any comments or info would be great. Thanks! Chris
  6. PK, if this is the mic holder circled in the pic your looking for I will have a look for you to make sure I didn't throw it out accidently when I removed my panels.
  7. I'll be home on Wednesday and when I get down to the hangar I'll have a look to see if it is still attached to my old side panel. I don't think I'll be putting it back when I install new interior panels. Chris
  8. Scott, I've got a 77 201 and just removed my yokes for powder coating. They do infact have the bolt going through the side, washers and nylock nut, I remember this quite clearly because they also had a set screw hidden in the back that needed to come out aswell, found that out the hard way when they wouldn't come off easily. It's a good heads up for anyone removing their 201 style yokes for repaint etc. I took a couple of screenshots from my 201 parts manual, hopefully it will help explain things better. From the parts manual item 10, the bolt used is an AN4-24A. Good luck, Chris
