One of the best grass strips in the mid south is in Gastons, AR - north central AR. Right next to a river and cottages. Fly in one way and take off in the opposite direction. Wondering if anyone has attempted this in a mooney at Gastons. I could easily do this with three people in my Cherokee 140. Hoping to make the transition with the fishing poles in the back. Barry

I'm Barry Gee - just purchased my first Mooney M20F 9516M, waiting for the new paint and avionics to be installed in Mena, AR. Then I will fly it out to Seattle for the summer, then perhaps back to Memphis. Transitioning from a Cherokee 140 so these boards are great. I've had two planes painted in Mena, AR so if anyone has any questions, just ask! I also resealed one of the tanks using directions from a mooney member and put in new side glass before the paint. Now hoping my center stack can handle the audio panel, 430W, 155 and transponder - hope it fits.

There are several good paint shops in Mena, AR. I'm currently haveing an M20F done at Crider Aircraft and so far the prop work looks outstanding. standard base rates are from 9.5 to 10.5 for a split base, metallic scheme. Don't bother getting a quote from A&S unless you want to pay much less - and wait for 3 months, and have them miss spots. The old cherokee they painted turned out allright but you get what you pay for. I'll post pictures shortly.

I currently have 9516M in the paint shop in Mena, AR at Crider Aircraft Paint. They have been great to work with so far. Good price under 10k to strip, sand, remove rusty rivits, add stainless steel screw kits. add 600 for new side glass windows. There are also 4 other good paint shops on the field. One is less benevolent - A&S, or whatever they are called now. They painted my last plane and did a fair job for the price but missed several spots. Feel free to ask me any follow up questions - two paint jobs - a lot of learning has come between these two big ears! Barry
