Mooney Down, 7/11 in Indiana
Chris White ex-N205KD replied to mooneygirl's topic in General Mooney Talk
Heartbreaking. I just had dinner with Mike a few weeks ago, with another of his new students in Columbus. He always impressed me with his dedication to instructing, and to his students. Praying for a full recovery, and for peace for Bill's family. -

Redline Sidewinder For Sale
Chris White ex-N205KD replied to Chris White ex-N205KD's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Christmas special, anyone? $1350 shipped. This will allow you to purchase a spare battery, should you so desire. The included battery is strong, but it may be nice to have a spare. Incidentally, I'm flying to the Port St. Lucie, FL, area on Christmas morning. If any of you are close and want to see the Sidewinder, I'll bring it along. Let me know be 0700hrs EDT on the 25th. I'll be there until the 2nd of January. Thanks! -
https://www.redlinea...oney-airplanes/ Hello Mooneyspace! Here's the skinny: I bought this Mooney-specific Redline Sidewinder power tug barely used thinking it would be an easy conversion to use on our Twin Bonanza. I was wrong. Tire size on the Beech is way too big. It'd cost more to convert this one than to buy a custom TwinBo Sidewinder from Redline. Live and learn I guess. So, I'm asking $1475 shipped to you. More than $200 off list when you factor in shipping; Redline is selling these for $1675. I used it on a hangar-mate's C (see photos) and it worked great. It has enough oomph to do any Mooney; my TwinBo has a GTOW of +6000lbs and the Redline folks say no problem. So, if you have an M, R, or TN model, no worries. This is a beautiful piece of machinery, and the nice thing is that it folds down to less than half its operational length. You could easily take it with you in your baggage compartment. It is fairly light, but I haven't weighed it. I'm open to offers! Email is (still) mooney205kd@gmail.com Let me know what you think. I can take Paypal if that helps. Thanks! Chris White N261B @ 4I3

38D IS very good, neat decor. If you want a true small town "greazie spoon", try Carrol County Tolson, KTSO. Breakfast all day long, and good. Sit by windows facing the runway, and you can hear the cook washing the dishes in the kitchen, just like granny in the old days :-). Very close by is I40, Coshocton Downing. Cheapest fuel in the state, currently at $3.89. I've flown a well-worn path in the sky to Downing to feed the T-Bone. -

Just brought home the Twin Bonanza yesterday, for those interested. COMPLETELY different animal than the 205, and quite incredible in it's own right. It has pretty much been an airshow everywhere we stop - people come out of the woodwork to see what made those beautiful engine sounds. Best sounding airplane this side of a Lancaster! Just about as big, too, with a couch and recliner in the back. Quote: JimR Chris, I worked that out to be 19.32 nmpg, which is excellent. What power setting(s) did you use, how long did it take, and what kind of ground speeds were you getting? Sorry to see you sell the Mooney, but I have a feeling that you'll be back when your mission requirements change. I agree that those T-Bones are some cool planes. Probably pretty pricey to operate, though. At least compared to what we are used to. I like the Travelairs, too. Gotta love those Lycoming 360s. -
I think the general rule is anything over 400 is bad. We were running in the 360's LOP in 5KD in cruise all cylinders, cowl flaps closed. The only time we saw anything close to 400 was in Vy climb in the summer. I really think your baffles need looked at, you have a probe problem, or you're in the "red box" ROP.

Might be blasphemy, but I like the way BeechTalk has their site put together. Don't hate! Their site does sell ads, so I'd imagine they have a little more dough for polishing. Craig has done a hell of a job here, as well. Very nice and easy to keep up with topics. www.beechtalk.com -

TN A36 is high on the list. If you're familiar with the beechlist or BeechTalk, we were hot on Tom Gresham's, but someone got it two weeks ago. Ironically, it closed today too. Supposedly a similar one coming out soon. Here's one for ya: we're looking at a restored T-Bone soon. THAT is a cool-*ss airplane, albeit with ruinous fuel burn! It has a couch and a recliner! -

Yep, she's gone. As I write this, Bob should be up with his instructor getting WAY behind the plane! We flew her from Willmar, MN last night NON-STOP to Poughkeepsie, NY (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N205KD) to her new home. Another spectacular performance by 5KD. 49 gallons burned, BTW Bob had her polished up by the boys at Willmar, and, honestly, I wasn't prepared for that. She really sparkled. Again, . BUT, the kids are NOT getting any smaller, and I was spending more and more time trying to coax them into the plane for those long trips to Florida that we got the plane for. They said they wanted a bigger plane, so we decided to look. Fortunately, two mooneyspace members showed interest in 5KD, and the deal was made. Yep, we put a lot of money into 5KD in the last year. But, we got good use out of it all, and, as you can see, the transaction went FAST. As it sits now, we didn't even have to put an ad out. And, 6-place and (gulp) twin prices are depressed WAY more than efficient performers like 5KD. So, Bob and I found each other, and we'll get to move on to wherever we're led. I am excited. No really. Well, right now, maybe just for Bob... BTW, we had a great experience with Willmar. They came in on-time and under-budget for the tweaks we had done. If, after the kids are grown, we are back to the Mooney, we'll definitely use them again. First class. Quote: LuvFlying Yeap. Chris'. He's working on getting a larger, 6-place plane. He's a bit shy/embarrased/sad to announce his pending sale/departue from the Mooney family. -

Scott's idea has a lot of merit. As stated above, this will give you solid-state attitude ADAHRS, but also a backup attitude indicator (by keeping and moving your steam indicator), another moving map, and an emergency GPS within the Aspen that will remember the flight plan from the 430W if it ever craps out. Not to mention the wealth of information displayed on the unit that just cannot be shown on mechanical intruments, such as wind speed and direction. Finally, an instrument scan is MUCH easier when all the instruments are combined into one! Wait til you fly an ILS or WAAS approach with an Aspen... You can easily get an Aspen installed for $10k, minus around $2500 +/- trade/resale on the HSI. How much does the stand alone GPSS cost installed?

Just checked flightaware, and it looks like I missed you by a few minutes! 119.15 for sure, looking at the frequency on the pic above. I'm thinking most were in the low 120's range, but I can't find the sheet I wrote them on. If this doesn't work for you, I can give Tim a call and get you more details. Doesn't look like it's too much of a hike to go over to 9A5, if that's what it takes!
