  1. Hello All: 2004 Ovation with JPI. When leaning lately, the #3 and always the #3 cylinder peaks first and early making it difficult to get a true peak reading and thus a true ROP/LOP setting. (Not getting into that discussion, here.) It happens more often than not. I try and lean very slowly, but most of the time lately, #3 peaks very quickly. I simply want to know if anybody else has experienced this and what may be the cause(s). I suspect dirty injector on #3 or weak or failing probe on #3. Any thoughts? redraider
  2. Bingo! Thanks for the replies. Just what I needed.
  3. Hello Mooneyspacers, I am having difficulty capturing the glideslope on RNAV approaches using the KFC 225 and Garmin 530. When approaching final and glideslope comes alive, sometimes the autopilot will capture and fly the glideslope, sometimes not. I suspect user error. Any advice?

  5. I would make sure the fuel tanks are good and sealed up. Nothing worse on new paint than blue stains coming through the top of the wing.
  6. Thanks for the replies. Absolutely nothing in the POH, but low and behold, it was off when I returned and battery was good. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the replies. No mention of a timer function in the POH, so for now I'll assume it was added later, if that's the case. Otherwise, I'll check the light today and see if it turned itself off or I have a dead battery.
  8. Hello All, My new to me '04 Ovation has a baggage compartment light that is on a spring loaded rocker switch. I turned it on and could not turn it off. I eventually forgot about it, but assume it is on a timer. Is this so, or do I need assume I'll be jump starting next time?
  9. My favorite: "It's zero, zero, and gettin' worse!"
  10. Hi All, Getting used to and loving the Ovation2, but I have an engine time question. Where can I find Tach Time? I have the Hobbs Meter installed on the back wall, but am unfamiliar with Tach Time. It has the Garmin 530/430 installed. POH doesn't mention it to my knowledge. Grant
  11. I would like a quote as well.
  12. Hello All, I'm in need of a POH for the Ovation2 s/n 29-0323 to 29-0332. any ideas?
  13. Just back from the warranty repair of one single screw leaking on the wing walk access panel. Carl and his fine young crew made the repair while I waited. It was a bit cool outside, so aside from the wait to allow the sealant to cure, the repair was done quickly and efficiently. Completely satisfied. Returned home, filled the tank and no more leaky screw. Warranty repair with no hassle. Thanks Carl. Highly recommend. And, I will return to have the landing gear biscuits replaced.
  14. I started the linked thread above. It has been 10 months since I had full strip and reseal on both tanks (J model). Last fall, one, single, screw on the wing walk, near the tank access panel developed a small leak when completely full. I contacted Carl and he said, "No problem. Bring it in when you can and we'll reseal the screw while you wait". In the meantime I had an unplanned engine overhaul and am just now arranging to get the plane back to Eagle Lake for the repair. That said, I am confident the warranty repair will be done correctly and without any hassle from Houston Tank Specialists. I would recommend without hesitation. I will report back on the warranty repair when completed. I have not had any additional leaks, either.
  15. I used him in February to reseal my J. I have one rivet forward of the wing walk that seeps a tiny bit when the tanks are full. Mr. Sharon assured me it would be taken care of, and I'm certain it will be. It's just a matter of scheduling at this point. I'm satisfied. Location was a very big factor for me. I'm barely an hour away. Way more convenient than the other shops. I would recommend without hesitation.
  16. Hello All, I have a trusted friend that is a former CFI and experienced Mooney pilot that has not flown in a while. He now has distant clients and wants to get back into flying. He has inquired about buying a portion of my bird ('78 M20J 201). I don't want to do that but would rather he simply rent the plane from me. I would only rent to him and not put it out there as a general rental. I suspect he would only rent it on an occasional basis, once a month or so. Anybody have experience with this? I am really looking for a market rate rental rate formula. What should I rent it to him for? 'preciate any input.
  17. Here is my experience: 20 Hours post reseal and all is still good.

  19. I have a '78 J and I will be in Austin (Exec) Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. Happy to show you my bird, warts and all...
  20. All, My bird is back and sat to cure for two weeks, full of fuel, with no leaks prior to me picking it up today. Only an hour of flight time and one pretty good landing so no real test yet, but I am satisfied with the straightforwardness of Carl and Houston Tank Specialist, LLC. I would recommend without hesitation. 6 year transferable warranty as well (plus some neat goodies as parting gifts, to boot). Any questions, please holler...
  21. Red airplanes scare me. Besides, my color of blue is the EXACT color of 110LL dye making it nearly impossible to see fuel leaks until they drip on the hangar floor. It has saved me years of grief. Whomever chose that color was genius.
