  1. Beautiful plane. Congratulations and enjoy the hell out of it.
  2. Hey, I was in the hangar today and was talking to Dean about your aircraft. I am getting a Mooney next week and keeping it on the field. That will make SEVEN Mooneys on KFLV. We need to have a fly-in that doesnt require us to fly anywhere. Sorry to hear about your nose gear, you'll be up and running for the good weather soon.
  3. Ha. I was reading through all of the Acclaim reviews this morning.... I certainly could not pay the entry fee, but the Rocket is pretty darn good substitute.
  4. I am so sorry to hear that.
  5. Thanks so far, Ill let everyone know how it goes. One other question: If your mission is equally split between local flights/fly-ins/hamburger runs type stuff and longer (over 500NM) cross countries is the Rocket an OK choice? Meaning, can you pull it back to 252 fuel flows for Sunday morning runs without hurting the engine. I can only find 55% power settings on the Rocket page. I really enjoyed pulling the power on my 201 WAY BACK, and just cruising early in the AM. Matt
  6. I see now, thanks. That happened before the conversion, so I don't see it as too much of an issue.
  7. I am talking to a seller about a Rocket and it has an interesting history. Apparently the alternator failed in 2008, which required a new crankshaft and some other work on the bottom end (not sure what one would have to do with the other- an engine shop in SLC, UT did the work. Apparently, the cost of that incident forced the owner to allow the annual to lapse until DEC 2012. I think the aircraft was repossessed during that time. I was able to find some interesting documents online filed with the district court that showed the finance company seeking to repo the plane. The engine has about 550 SMOH since 1993 when it was converted. My question is if you would feel comfortable knowing that a shop looked at the engine back in 2008 and replaced major components on the bottom end, but then it sat for four years. What would you have done during the pre-buy to alleviate fears of major engine issues? I have a call into the folks who did the annual in 2012 and I will see what they say. I think the price reflects the issue with the plane, but an OH within six months of purchasing the plane would most likely come with a divorce. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Here is the aircraft: http://www.trade-a-plane.com/listing?id=1644847 Thanks.
  8. This plane is located right around the corner from me so if anyone is interested, I can take a look for you. Matt
  9. One reason for the variable timing in cars is the wide range of RPM in which it operates. Unlike airplanes which essentially operates at one RPM setting. Adding variable timing to an A/C magneto would be of little benefit and would add a failure point. José
  10. My aircraft is for sale.... http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/MOONEY-M20J-201/1984-MOONEY-M20J-201/1208897.htm? Shoot me an email or call if you have any questions. Good luck with your search.
  11. I did run the VREF and it was actually in the ball park of what I was looking to sell it for. Just wanted to hear what potential buyers were thinking. Thanks for the help... hopefully this is a painless process.
  12. Another vote for Galvin, although Clay Lacey treated me very well during an angel flight stop off.
  13. Well, work situation has contributed to the sale of N5767Z. It will go up on Controller on Monday and I have not decided on an asking price. Looking for the members of the forum to make some suggestions. I am not emotionally attached to the aircraft so you wont hurt my feelings. Specs: 1984 M20J 4800 TT 1000 SMOH 500 SPOH 430W, MX-20, KFC 150, King HSI, JPI 800 w/fuel flow, Electric backup AI, Speed Brakes, Standby Vac, WSI weather Everything works, complete logs, no damage history Original paint and interior (good condition) Pictures are in my gallery. I really appreciate the help guys.
  14. Some reports are saying there were children on board. This is a terrible accident.
  15. Damn, in aviation terms, you are getting off easy. I would jump on that deal.
