Mooney Ambassadors, Energize. Engage. Encourage!
mooneygirl replied to MooneyMitch's topic in General Mooney Talk
Hello All We had a wonderful time at KPVT-Porterville, CA. We brought in 16 Mooneys and won the "More the Merrier" award. As well, a Mite owner won the flour bombing, another Ambassador won the "farthest distance" and the Bravo won the speed contest. With the weather in the high 80s and a fun crowd, we really got the word out about Mooney and helped to inspire the love of flight. Video to follow Here's what's next: Father's Day Fly-In, Columbia CA O22, June 17-19, 2011: The Mooney Ambassadors attended the 2010 annual Father's Day Fly-In in beautiful Columbia California. Nestled in the foothills of the Sierras, Columbia offers two runways, one asphalt and one grass, as well as a lovely campground. 13 Ambassadors came through over the two day event and helped spread the word about Mooney Airplane Company, and promoted General Aviation. Events We Encourage: In speaking with Trey, MAPA is continuing the "Mooney of the Month" in 2011 and will seek contributions from the membership. Photos should be color, JPG, high res. and portrait is preferred for a cover shot (see the Jan ’11 LOG for more about photos) and the article should include as much info. about the airplane, years of ownership, interesting flights etc. It sounds fun so put your story/photo together and submit to: mapa@sbcglobal.net. 2011 MAPA Safety Foundation PPP $795.00, schedule your class today. (Be proficient in your airplane) July 8-10 Pilot Proficiency Program, Denver, CO September 9-11 Pilot Proficiency Program, Atlantic City, NJ Oct. 7-9 Pilot Proficiency Program, Ownesboro, KYTele: 210-525-8008 or email: mapa@sbcglobal.net MAPA Convention: 2011 MAPA CONVENTION UPDATE FROM TREY: Well folks it’s finally scheduled. This year we have decided to depart from our usual “once every three years” schedule of visiting Kerrville and return to the hometown of Mooney a year early. We do this so that if there is something new to report (no nothing important yet!) we will be nearby. October 20 – 23, 2011 we will occupy the YO Ranch Resort and Conference Center for the 37th consecutive meeting of the Mooney Aircraft Pilots Association. We are putting together another great list of speakers and are beginning to contact exhibitors so mark October on your calendars now so that you can take part in the oldest and largest gathering of the Mooney family in the world. We will follow the successful format used last year in Colorado Springs – Welcome Reception with Exhibitors on Thursday evening, breakfast with the Exhibitors Friday morning and then begin seminars that afternoon. Once again we will plan only one seminar at a time so that no one has to pick and choose. Friday night after dinner we will all meet for dessert at the traditional Ice Cream Social. Saturday we will have seminars throughout the morning into early afternoon and the banquet will complete activities Saturday night. Watch future issues of the LOG and our website for more information. But mark your calendars now – October 20 through 23 at the YO in Kerrville. We will see you there! Tele: 210-525-8008 or email: mapa@sbcglobal.net Check out the promotional video for MAPA Homecoming 2011: -
Hello there ArtCraft is in Building C space 3062. Apparently the hospitality room is just a few booths down. The Mooney Ambassadors are helping in this endeavour. We are aiming for 12-2 daily. The room is for customers or potential customers. So we will have a chance to talk Mooney, perhaps get a quote on an interior or paint job from ArtCraft, see our Mooney Family, and have a cold drink. We are going to try to save a row for Lt. Dan Band on Friday night. Mitch and I will be presenting a workshop on Promoting General Aviation, but have not been given the location or date yet.
-
Quinn and Vic: Glad you are coming. Remember about Happy Hour at Building C sponsored by ArtCraft and Lt Dan Band on Friday night.

Hey Dave I am going with two shades of blue, one pearl, one metallic and an antique silver accent. I was inspired by the ocean and how the blues change depending on your angle/view. And maybe the silver is like the crest of a wave. Can't tell I live at the beach huh? She goes in after the Ambassador display at Columbia California, Father's Day weekend. After the new paint, Mitch and I will have to arm wrestle to see who taxis on the dirt. HA. Plan on taking her to Kerrville for the MAPA Convention/Homecoming in October [20-23rd]. ArtCraft will be an exhibitor there, as well as at AirVenture again. Also going with two inch numbers..

We purchased a pulse ox and have supplemental O2 available. On night flights we use at 8000 and above. I found that with the O2, I got to the destination feeling more refreshed and no headache. Listening to the recording is just mind-blowing. Yes a Pinch-Hitter course is a must. Most chapters of 99s [female pilots] offer a Pinch Hitter course. Otherwise, practice with your partner. I even taught my 11 year old what to do. Practice practice practice with them. How about simulator experience too? Can't hurt. We are lucky, most times two pilots aboard the Mooney.

Mooney Ambassador Events OH, IN, KY, MI, WV, PA?
mooneygirl replied to jelswick's topic in General Mooney Talk
Rebecca Meeke worked at Mooney for four years. Here is what she says about Mooney: "I worked for Mooney in the accounting office from Jan 2004 - Nov 2008. Loved every minute there, hearing the planes, watching the assembly of the planes, you name it. Praying this economy turns it around." Rebecca has been a Mooney Ambassador since day one, even though she is not a pilot or owner. She suggested the Quad-City Airshow as a perfect venue for the Ambassadors to display. In talking with Ken, the Airboss, who has a couple hundred hours in Mooneys, he agreed. We have four spots available for aircraft. Rebecca is bringing the canopy, table, chairs and a children's activity. We have ONE Mooney to display with her. If you are able to attend and display your airplane, that would be awesome. The event draws nearly 50,000 guests. Here are the details and email me privately if you can come. I also have an Ambassador in Witchita looking to hitch a ride and share expenses. June 18-19, 2011 Quad-City Airshow, [KDVN] Davenport, IA. Blue Angels, Fat Albert and more! See WWII aircraft and displays, plus our Mooney Ambassadors.“ Special 25th Air Show Silver Spectacular Flyover starting at 1100 – you do not want to miss this opening” We have over 200 ground exhibits, including the DR. PEPPER KIDSPACE. Point Person: Rebecca Meeke. Event website: http://www.quadcityairshow.com/2011/ Please help if you can, hate to not use this wonderful opportunity to show off our Mooneys and inspire the love of flight!! I am doing it! My Maggie II [1965 E model] is going to ArtCraft Paint, in Santa Maria, CA [KSMX] on the 21st. I am very excited. ArtCraft painted Mitch's Ovation, as well as 14 other Mooneys we have sent their way. I am so happy and know it will be a beauty. ArtCraft is exhibiting at AirVenture this year and is sponsorting Mooney Happy Hour daily for those who would like to meet up with other Mooney drivers. ArtCraft Paint has a display in Building/Hangar C space 3062. The hospitality suite is just down from their booth. I will post photos of the progress on my Maggie. I am going with colors that are found in the Pacific Ocean on Matterhorn white.

Able to route to commercial terminal to get passen
mooneygirl replied to Newguy's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I have picked up passengers and dropped off for Sacramento International. I went to the GA FBO. They have a bus that comes and takes you to the commericial terminal. There is no charge for parking if you purchase ANY fuel, so that is what I do. It was a seemless process. I do allow extra time because the bus comes every 15 minutes or so. -

I know what you mean. I have a first generation pad with FF. Loaned it to our favorite Cessna pilot and our CFI for IFR. He is headed to Yellowstone. Funny now that it is gone for two weeks, I really miss it.
