  1. Yes, they produce the same gear set however, they reached out to the company that they produce them for and the company said that they were NOT interested in speaking with me in regards to us ordering the gears from them, nor would they tell me who the company was....Avon also said, since they make the identical gear sets for an existing company that they could not use the drawings I have to build gears for us nor could they recommend anyone. I'm really surprised, that whatever Company it is, wouldn't be interested in selling 100 gear sets...just wish I could find out who the company is.
  2. Thanks, I'll reach out to them as well..I appreciate your time.
  3. So, I found a gear manufacture that manufactures the same exact gear set, that we are looking for, for a "CUSTOMER" that ISN'T Mooney, he is reaching out to said customer to see if he is willing to contact me to discuss the ability of us ordering the gear sets from them. Was told it will be a day or so before the customer will be available to reach out. So, hopefully this pans out and allows us an immediate sourcing for these gear sets...will let you know what I hear. I am still looking at other vendors though, just in case. V/r Matt
  4. Don Maxwell, is one of the quickest and cheapest for getting it done, reach out ot him, he quoted me a 1 week turn around from when they receive it, 1/2 the price of buying one from LASAR
  5. I've contacted them (aerofluidproducts.com) and currently waiting for them to respond, they said it may be sometime next week before they do so. will let you know. They are the ones that Transdign gave the old Dukes account to.
  6. Thanks, I may have misspoke in regards to heat treated, may be hardened though, I'm not sure...from what I understand the 40:1 gear set uses brass for the worm gear and steel of some sort for the worm shaft
  7. Thanks, Just sent...appreciate it.
  8. Well, that's the issue to determine the appropriate material AND heat treatment, without a report, there is a litany of tests and use reports to be given to the FAA to demonstrate that it meets/exceeds OEM...
  9. Are you voulenteering as I can send you that info let me know
  10. Well, that is what we are trying to do but until we get the required specs and drawings we can't meet the OPP requirements of proof that the OPP is equal to or better than OEM....If we can't show that, then there is a process to go through that is expensive and time consuming. I (we) would appreciate it is you could put me in touch with some of those individuals so I'm not out here floundering or needlessly wasting time and effort, my personal email is MatthewPellegrino@yahoo.com V/r Matt
  11. LOL, could you ask them if they do any Pro-Bono work
  12. Yes, ANY type of pre-payment would be a liability for the MSCs or individuals in the event Mooney were to go out of business or declare bankruptcy prior to the parts being received and inspected/accepted by Mooney. If Mooney ordered a parts run and during that 4-6 month went out of business or went bankrupt, there would be no one that could take possession of those parts to inspect/accept them on behalf of Mooney...the only workaround, if you will, would be if Mooney licensed them out to lets say Lasar...then it wouldn't matter if Mooney went under or bankrupt, Lasar would still be able to have the parts manufactured and they would be the ones to inspect/accept the parts for sale to the MSCs.
  13. So, The gear sets (both 20:1 and 40:1) are manufactured by a 3rd party under contract with Mooney, and still available as long as Mooney places the order which they have been unwilling to do because they have to front the money and they aren't willing to do that nor can they accept pre-pay for the order from the MSCs, not that the MSCs would be willing to front the money. I received a test from the CEO last week, they are looking at the possibility of licensing those parts, like they have done with other parts, so that they are available to be ordered...we'll see. SO, WHERE ARE WE CURRENTLY. A MoonySpace individual sent me a unused set of the 20:1 gear set, I had them professionally scanned and measured and have the 3D CAD Drawing for them....Another MooneySpace individual send me a set that failed inspection so that I can have them tested to determine the metal and heat treating makeup of the gear sets, UNFORTUNATELY, NONE of the (5) Metallurgy testing facilities, that I have requested testing quotes from, will provide their service to an individual, so I'm still trying but have been unsuccessful thus far. I have also requested, through the FAA (Certification Branch), under the Freedom of Information Act, that they provide the drawings and metallurgy report for the gear set so that we can satisfy the requirement of the OPP that the parts are equal to or better than OEM for a manufactured part that is no longer produced or available, I've called, they have the request but gave NO indication as to how long it will take to approve/disapprove the request. So, if ANYONE knows of a metallurgist, that might be able to test the gear sets, please let me know. I'm still trying guys.... Matt
  14. So, I have a 1966 E and the landing gear horn CB, when pulled, extinguisher BOTH the landing gear indicator lights AND the horn...so maybe they are wired differently between models...also to note, it came from the factory with the Johnson bar and directly over to Dougosh for the electric landing gear install, so maybe they wired it differently...
  15. Somehow they are tied in that when I pull the gear horn cb, it extinguishes the light and the horn
  16. I have had 2 people tell me that the advance timing messed up their engines, so that's the premise of my question/concern...it was quite a few years ago so not sure if it was a problem that was engineered out or if maybe theirs wasn't installed properly..
  17. Thanks...I'm troubleshooting the issue with the gear warning buzzer going off even though the gears are up and I'm flying 25/25...normally it would go off at extremely low/idle position of the throttle if the gear was indicating up.
  18. Decided on putting in the SureFly and getting rid of the left MAG and Shower of Sparks, A&P asked me if I wanted it configured standard or to allow for advanced timing at higher altitudes.....I've heard stories of issues with the advance timing and a few people on this forum, a few years ago recommended against it.....looking for more recent information incase they had an issue previously but have worked the bugs out. Yes, got new harnesses made (Maggie). I appreciate your time.
  19. Excellent, thank you everyone, I appreciate your time.
  20. I'm confused, you say it is as Scott indicated, in the belly, but obvious if looking at it with the gear down, so is in in the nose, right mail, left main or under a belly panel that needs to be removed?
  21. Electric gear, where is the contact switch located that indicates the gear is up
  22. Problem is, you can't get either the 20:1 or 40:1
  23. $4-6k for just the gears?
  24. I've asked for both parts, 20:1 and 40:1 and was told the same...unfortunately, unless the FAA comes through, I will only have info (CAD drawings and metalurgy report) for the 20:1 gear sets, I'm sure a gear manufacturer could take the drawings from the 20:1 gears and come up with drawings for 40:1, I will certainly ask the question once I get the metalurgy report and able to send out for quotes.
  25. Done, thanks
