  1. Your reply SHOULD have been....During preflight when I sumped the tanks, there was no water in the samples..So, did you sump the tanks?
  2. UNTIL you realize that that 30% increase DOESN'T include LASAR's 500% markup..
  3. It's really a basic aerodynamic principle.. on a go around you already have the additional lift of the flaps so what is it that's holding you back...the drag of the gear...so I really am perplexed as to the point of the original question...by reducing flaps first, you are reducing an element of lift and thereby increasing drag....
  4. I found a guy on marketplace that had a set from 15 years ago...call Don Maxwell, he seems to be able to find them for people until LASAR gets something figured out..
  5. Don't overcomplicate it...set your prop, twist mixture till rough, add a couple turns till roughness goes away and you are good...come out to be about the same as reaching peak EGT and adjusting to ROP since you are not an IO360
  6. Just be advised, if you are using resin and fiberglass over the plastic that it will delaminate over time
  7. LASAR will be the ones that deal directly with Mooney's (former) vendors for parts and in the example you gave, Mooney would be considered a vendor and LASAR would go to them for the parts they still produce.
  8. If you know a good fiberglass guy they could use the original piece to make a reverse mold out of it and make you a fiberglass replacement.
  9. It’s for those individuals that have checklists. Lots of checklists. Hard copies and digital checklists on their iPad and phone BUT still can’t seem to follow their fugging checklist. But it’ also for those who do follow their checklist to let them know that during those critical phases of flight, where the checklist calls out for turning on the fuel pump, that their electrical fuel pump is/isn’t working and therefore, if it isn’t then you have no backup in the event the mechanical pump fails…
  10. Have you flown one with a YD?
  11. Remove the other one, use it as a template, go buy a piece of lexan and there you go
  12. Following the checklist would rectify that
  13. I understand that....he wanting to know how to start the aircraft as he has no means of priming it due to the electric fuel pump being inop.
  14. Not sure what else you are having done, but I got the gfc-500 with both pitch trim and YD and by the time everything was done, the change in aft CG was negligible, especially if you DON'T put 10lbs in the hat shelf area.
  15. For my 1965 M20E, start checklist, you turn on the electric fuel pump, push mixture in for 5-7 seconds to get fuel in the lines/cylinder, turn it off, pull out mixture and then start...
  16. Probably referring to priming it with the electric boost pump.
  17. LOL, some work a little slower than others, no reason to RUSH into anything someone must have done something to bring the post forward....BUT, if he's still looking for an aluminum binder, this should help him out
  18. that's what insurance is for, I'm sure those people, like YOU would be, were more concerned with their families and the fact that their houses were damaged and that held a little higher priority than someone elses plane/
  19. You can make one, cut the aluminum the size you want, rivet in the piano hinges and get a regular binder with the size rings you want, drill out the rivets, rivet it to the aluminum one you just made and you have what you want..Sheetmetal 101.
  20. Same here, even though I have a spare 20:1 it's important that others have choices and can keep their aircraft flying for years to come. And not having to face the possibility of ending up AOG every 200hr inspection.
  21. Atleast it will be an option and even if the cost of the backspring, still a cheaper option than we currently have..that's why I'm hoping there is going to ve another vendor stepping up.
  22. Received an email from LASAR this morning, they are working with a few vendors trying to get the lead-times down and have created a "Waitlist." Once they get a firm (reasonable) lead-time they will start reaching out to those on their waitlist for orders/deposits. As of this morning, they still do not have an approximate price for the gearsets, won't know until they lock-in a vendor. (LASAR did not give a timeline as to when they might be reaching out to those on the waitlist.) IF you would like to be placed on their waitlist, email Sales@lasar.com with the qty you are requesting. Looks like there will be a secondary vendor option at some point as an individual, already making gearsets for other aircraft, is looking to make the 40:1 gearsets as well, he already has a few items PMA'd and working to do the same with the 40:1 gearsets, the good thing is, he's the vendor and a Mooney Owner, more info as it becomes available, but it will be good to have a little competition for LASAR to hopefully keep pricing relatively reasonable. But for now, if you are interested, reach out to LASAR and get your name on the list. V/r matt
  23. I reached out to LASAR yesterday, waiting to hear back from him...did find a machinist that currently makes a few PMA parts and NASCAR gears that owns a Mooney that is looking to make them, but unsure of the timeline.
  24. Posed the question to Frank at Mooney and his response was: "Not sure, but probably looking at Material: MIL-B-5924B Type 1." OR Owens-Corning PF334
