  1. It's stiff, but not locked up. I will try hitting it with some tri-flow first before undertaking major surgery.
  2. Ahhhh. O.K. Thanks Hank. I will give that a try. Scott
  3. what is the process for this? Take out handle? Sorry, not familiar with process of "droppin' in the oil". Thanks for reply.
  4. My fuel selector is pretty stiff to move between left and right. What does this mean/remedy?
  5. I had this issue with install of the 830. I had purchased a JPI probe and it didn't work with OEM six pack. I replaced the jpi with OEM bayonet and works fine again.
  6. Installation went smoothly today. Both the starter and Voltage regulator working perfectly. Nice upgrades. Three hours labor for work. Job done.
  7. I am having a SkyTech starter and Zeftronics Voltage Regulator installed tomorrow by my A&P. Looking forward to the extra prop spin and weight savings. My regulator dates to 1965 (original to plane) so doing that as well as starter pre-emptively. Both were purchased here on Mooneyspace. Hopefully they both work and install is straight forward. Both were purchased used.
  8. You had me at "dummy proof". Ordered.
  9. Noted. Paint had imperfections. I wated to cut a bit. I will use a less aggressive pad and true polish going forward.
  10. Not trying to be disrespectful, but you're wrong. The orange pad is what was recommended and it worked very very well.
  11. I had never used a rotary (corded electric Harbor Freight 6" orange pad with MaGurire's Polish), but after watching a few videos on YouTube, took the plunge. I did the whole plane in 3 hours. The difference is amazing (effort required and results) compared to traditional waxing with paste polish. I did this dry. I would do about an 18" square section at a time. I would put five pea size dots of product directly on pad and tap area I was going to work. I would do five passes with the wheel only on poser setting 2. I have a debugging surface prep product that I would spray and wipe with a micro cloth to remove any remaining polish. I didn't want a LOT of cutting of paint, but the wheel and clother did have some blue from the buffing. The shine was great. I attached a couple of photos. VERY pleased that I tried the technique. I had ZERO issues with any "removal of paint from rivets or swirling". The waffle pads work excellent. I used same pad for entire plane. I only did top and side surfaces. NO BELLY . I will do this a couple times a year going forward.
  12. What? Braly DID discuss the leaks n Mooney's. He waxed on about how he used to fly a 1967 Mooney. Paraphrasing he said: -Mooneys and some Cessna aircraft had shoddy sealant installs that were completed 30, 40, 50 years ago. -Is it possible that when a tank is leking that my gas is more aggressive on sealant? Yes. -It is only Mooney's and some Cessnas so not a big deal because there are so many benefits to the fuel. TBO, Etc... -The percentage of planes having issues is small and 100ll use resulted in leaks as well - He specifically called out Weep No More and said there are three other aluminum integral tank sealant operationsin business. (insinuating that tanks leaked and needed repair with 100ll. It is a known problem so not our problem) My take-away. He knows his fuel is more aggressive on tank sealant, but hey no fuel is perfect so buck up, your plane is old. Deal with it.
  13. Agree, that was NOT acceptable and being upset is understandable. That you were hung up on is insult to injury although I don't know how you spoke to Don. My guess is a one day cool down was not undertaken?
  14. What a crappy thread ;)
  15. I recently returned to Iowa from Arkansas and had a significant headwind out of the north. I was in cruise at 5500’ burning 10.3gph. 2500rpm and 2350mp. On landing I went no flaps. Wind was19 gusting to 36 @290. Landing was uneventful on 31. My indicated airspeed on final was 120-100mph or sink was significant. Here was groundspeed.
  16. What is that hairy appendage between co-pilot legs lol?
  17. Owners pay ridiculous (imo) amounts for radios that are newer. Are there benefits? I can transmit and hear just fine on my legacy units. They do so because the aesthetics and "look" is modern and visually pleasing. I would never pay thousands for wingtip purchase and install, but I am glad my plane has them because they are visually pleasing.
  18. $2k on Ebay, $3k here. What’s up with that?
  19. I have noticed an increase in shipping problems in last six months. Amazon is killin' it on communication and hitting or beating delivery times. Fed Ex, UPS, USPS? Not so much. Examples: 1. Item shipped from Cedar Rapids to Tennessee. Within ten miles of location and item was shipped four hours east with several days delay. 2. Item shipped from Louisiana to Iowa. Item went from St Louis to Des Moines (two hours west of delivery) and then was sent to Denver with several days delay to deliver. 3. Item boxed and shipped from Arizona to Iowa. Notice of delay. Two of three items arrived in a different box than originally shipped. Heaviest item (generator) missing fom different box after several days delay. What is going on within shipping logistics operations? Are others seeing a significant increase in delays and damaged or lost shipments in last six months? I am always concerned about not just delays, but will I receive my expensive aviation shipments regardless of carrier.
  20. Responses like yours have gotten me thrown out multiple times. Not today bro.
  21. Come on Steve. What is a fair mark-up? A thousand percent% Two thousand %? What is the number of Dukes gear systems produced/flying? I want them/Laser to make a good fair profit. The back spring is the same deal. Just a f.u. owner price. A take it or leave it price. I am a leave it guy vs. bending iver and "taking it". Over the years with three Mooneys I have given Laser thousands. The majority was BEFORE sell out and new ownership...
  22. am very happy that a run is being done, but This is a gear. A gear that is already being manufactured. $500 is a LOT for a gear the size of a quarter. A thousand is insane. Anything over that and they can suck it. I will scrap the plane before I pay that.
  23. Billy, Thanks for your help on the items. First class service and communication throughout. I appreciate you sir. Scott
