  1. Thanks Skip, makes sense!
  2. Hello everybody, revinging this thread. Reading the service instruction M20-120, it seems as if sealant is only to be applied on the rubber-screen gasket (I guess both sides), not on the gasket that is in contact with the engine itself. Why is that so? Only because the rubber is more prone to leaks than the paper gasket? Many thanks, Martin
  3. Evening everybody, installing an AL12-P70 on a IO-360A3B6D. Not shure whether the spacer that is in the bracket hole is installed at the right position. The only installation manual that I found looked confusing. Both belt pulleys (alternator and the one on the crankshaft) seem only to align only when the spacer is installed at the indicated position. Can somebody comment whether this is as intended/correct? Many thanks, Martin
  4. Evening all, It seems there is no specified direction of flow for this oil cooler. I’d like to get confirmation. Unfortunately, Aero Classics does not provide details on this. Could someone confirm whether it is bi-directional, and possibly point me to an official publication or documentation that states this? Many thanks, Martin
  5. Gents, does anyone know the correct inner diameter of the crush washer for the M-113 CHT probe on an IO-360 A3B6D? I think it’s 3/8, but I’m not sure. I’m not in the hangar to check and need to order. Many thanks, Martin
  6. Thanks everybody! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Morning everybody, I’m trying to understand how the gear-warning microswitch on the throttle cable works on a J. I expected a groove in the cable that would deflect the switch arm and open/close a circuit, but that doesn’t seem to be the case since the cable appears smooth. There’s a small wheel/roll on the switch arm — but how does it measure the cable’s deflection? Thanks, Martin
  8. Thanks Jim, I ended up grinding down a cheap wrench as others suggested - fits well and seems to have enough grip to get the nut loose.
  9. Thanks for the anwers - that helps.
  10. Evening gents, couple of firewall-forward questions (J with IO-360A3B6D): Can somebody tell me whether the hose from the fuel servo to the fuel manifold (should be p/b: LW-12784-4-172) comes with a firesleeve? Can't see a sleeve on mine and it seems wrong. Also wondering whether there is a special wrench to hold the engine mount bolt nuts (see foto) when removing the engine? Many thanks, Martin
  11. OK – they mention reaching 75% by the end of 2025, which might be what @Pinecone was referring to. On another note, most M20 IO-360 engines appear to have a relatively high compression ratio of 8.7:1. Does anyone knowleadable see a risk that the 100R might not work for these engines?
  12. Hey Pinecone, That’s interesting - do you remember where this was stated or do you happen to have a link to an article or video or where Swift mentioned this? Many thanks, Martin
  13. Ok - that makes sense, thanks.
  14. Hello gents, does anybody know who sells this STC, is it Lycoming? I mean despite the parts (engine, prop etc.), there must be the technical documentation that goes with it. Who does provide this? Also wondering whether it was validated under EASA, couldn´t find anything so far. Greets, Martin
  15. As far as I understand the overhaul requirement originates from SB643B.
  16. Gents, does anybody know the overhaul and maintenance intervals for the A3B6 slick 4370/4372. The bendix dual mag (on my A3B6D) needs overhauls every four years. Do the slicks need less maintenance? (Trying to evaluate whether the conversion will lower my magneto maintenance bills in the long term) As far as I understand there should be no issues running an MT three blade prop on the A3B6 after conversion. Am I overlooking something? Many thanks, Martin
  17. Byron, do you remember which paint stripper you used for your wheels and how well the old paint came off?
  18. Not yet. Looks indeed as if they have them. Thanks for the info!
  19. Yes - I guess that makes sense, also less hassle to install.
  20. They look brittle (guess they´re original), don´t want them to crack. Think its good to change them when installing the overhauled pump.
